“Best Deal in the Valley”
Reviewed 12 February 2007

I've stayed here several times, on business and on vacation. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The rooms are furnished nicely and well equipped. For the price you can't beat this place. I recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a bargain and nice place to stay. There are plenty extremely nice hotels in Napa, but you'll pay far more than you will at the Inn at the Vines.

  • Liked — It was a bargain. Great amenities for the price.
  • Disliked — Parking was a little sparse.

Interestingly, the only vines you will see here are a few sad ones that grow around the edge of the parking lot. The location is ok for doing winery tours as you have access to the major Napa and Sonoma routes. The room was clean but the place was noisy. We had a room with a connecting door to another room and you could hear anything/everything through it from our bathroom. Lots of walking around noises from above as well. If I stayed there again I'd go for the top floor and make sure it wasn't a joined room.

We stayed here for one night in July. We had not made reservations in advance, so the only room available was the suite. It is a very large and comfortable room. The room has a large table (6 chairs), sofa, several other big sitting chairs, tv, etc. Upstairs is a large master bedroom with king size bed, tv, comfortble chairs, etc. The only downside is the bathroom is downstairs and the stairs up/down from the master bedroom are many. As such, to stay in the room, you need to be comfortable to climb stairs (we were....but it is a factor to consider if you are not.). The place was quite spacious. If you wanted to come with another couple to Napa and do it relatively inexpensively, you could rent the room next door, use the common living room area, and have the mater bedroom upstairs. All in all, it would make for a wonderful stay.

They do have a swimming pool (small) and spa; area to sit outside in the sun. Its "small" but everyone who went there enjoyed the area.

It comes with breakfast (eggs/meat/coffee or tea/etc.) breakfast at the Denny's next door. Also, you get 20% off Denny's bill ilf you eat there at another meal.

Very friendly place....its not the "ritz" but its a fine place to stay if you want inexpensive place to stay in Napa. its about a mile drive to downtown Napa. (If you come without a car, there is a rental car place - Enterprise) within a couple minutes walk of the Best Western.

  • Liked — Suite Room is quite nice.
  • Disliked — stairs to master bedroom
  • Tips/Secrets — Great inexpensive place to stay in Napa.

The room was very dark with a fence that blocked light from the slider door. I think it was an attempt to make a private patio. The room lighting was terrible too. Room was ok. Would not stay here again. The location was ok if you are going to wineries. Price was good. They give you a coupon for a free light breakfast at the Denny's next door, or you can use it as $ off your purchase there. The Denny's was so smoky and outdated. Would not recommend it either.

We just stayed here as part of a large group. Actually, it was very clean and the rooms were spacious. I believe the room we were in had been updated fairly recently. There was a small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pot. Didn't use any of these, but nice to have them there. We got coupons for a $2.50 breakfast at the next door Denny's (you could "upgrade" if you wanted to). Beds were comfortable; the views were non existant, but we were only there to sleep and clean up anyway. This is no wine country bed and breakfast, but I have stayed in much worse places. The only slip up was when all our group key cards got de-gaussed and no one could get in their room. That was remedied pretty fast. All-in-all, I was pleased.

This particular Best Western is certainly clean, and in-room high-speed 'net access is convenient, but that's all it has going for it.

Ignore for a moment the lack of a fitness center and the sub-standard Denny's that seems to be the only viable dining option within a couple miles. (It's surrounded by shopping centers and fast food restaurants.) When returning from a meeting in Benicia, I called the front desk, spelled out my exact location, after which I received what turned out to be incorrect directions, taking me over two hours out of my way, well past midnight. I called again, explained what happened, and the late night desk clerk, Josh, just laughed and said it happens all the time.

Needless to say I was furious, and Josh was no help at all. Since I only come to the area for business, I will never stay at this location again.

The area is less than desirable. We had room on the 2nd floor and could hear everytime the person above us walked around. It was okay but extremely misleading since they forgot to mention the hot tub is pretty much in the parking lot and the pool is a wading pool. (4ft deep) The "free breakfast" is $2.50 off the Denny's menu. They do have some good breakfast deals since you have to use the coupon before 10:30 am. I would not suggest this hotel for a romantic getaway but for the frugal vacationer or one with families. They do have adjoining rooms...very nice for kids in one and adults in the other.
The Best Western in Calistoga..just north of Napa is very nice. Nothing like this one.
