The hotel was clean and the grounds are lovely. Wonderful setting around the pond and fountain with fire pits. Very generous breakfast and cocktail hour. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay here again!

I stayed at this property with three other adults for 4 nights. The location was convenient and the walk downtown was enjoyable. We never used a cab to get to the restaurants or Oxbow market downtown. The only downside was the insufficient number of towels we were given. We really didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel since we were out visiting wineries, but the amenities were nice and the complimentary breakfast was very convenient. The outdoor areas are beautiful, with swans and great sitting areas.

The hotel is still in a crappy location for tourists. The hotel is ok. I'm not a fan of rooms that open to the outside (more like an apartment building that anyone can , walk up to the door). Typically ES, the room is the standard size, which is nice to have a little more room to spread out. The spa is indoor :( the indoor pool area reeks of chlorine as there is no ventilation. --very gym like. The outdoor pool is nice although I have never seen anyone in it.
The free breakfast is nice. Typical ES spread. We sat out on the patio /bar area for 30 min and were never approached by staff so we left

Front desk folks aren't exceeding helpful. The overall vibe I got from THIS trip to ES in Napa, was meh.

Room Tip: ask for a room that does not face the freeway

This is a beautiful facility with lovely grounds, conveniently located near the expressway that runs up through the Napa Valley. We opted for the luxury suite which included a premier location (i.e. quiet), free internet access, and a complimentary bottle of wine. The bedroom had two double beds which were incredibly comfortable, a large dresser with tons of storage space, a decent sized closet, and a sink with mirror. The bathroom was on the small side, with tub-shower combination, toilet, and another sink with mirror. Since there were two women sharing the room, it was nice to have the additional sink and mirror for doing make-up and hair. The living room was spacious with a comfortable couch, plus a desk with two chairs, a sink, microwave, and refrigerator. We were on the second floor; next time I would request a room on the third floor, as the people above us were quite noisy and stayed up very late, which nullified the idea of a premier, quiet location. Breakfast was very nice. There was a wide variety of cold cereals, as well as hot oatmeal, three kinds of fresh fruit, yogurt, bread and English muffins for toasting, and a variety of sweet muffins, plus an omelet bar where you can have omelets made to order, and they will also fix fried or scrambled eggs with sides of bacon or sausage. There was also an afternoon Manager's Reception, but that was a big disappointment. If all you want is a glass of wine then you will be happy, but do not count on any kind of decent snacks. We went down the first night and didn't bother going back again, which is why we gave this only 4 stars instead of 5. Otherwise our stay was perfect - very helpful and friendly people at the front desk, very clean facility, free parking. There is a grill on the premises, but we opted to eat out. There are several great restaurants within an easy drive - try Tarla's for lunch, Fish Story for dinner. If you are willing to drive a little further, Mustard's Grill and Bistro Jeanty are both fantatic.

Room Tip: Third floor

If you are interested in spending a weekend up in Napa Valley and aren't into doing the bed and breakfast thing, this is your place. While a tad on the pricey side, the hotel makes up for it in service. I was staying at the hotel for a conference and originally was supposed to share a room with a colleague. A week before the conference he announced his wife was coming along. This meant I needed to book another room but was now outside the discount rate for the conference. When I checked in the desk clerk took pity on me and gave me the discounted rate.

The breakfast in the morning was fantastic as was the manager's reception in the evening. I did not get to try the restaurant onsite for dinner. The proximity to the local downtown Napa tasting rooms is pretty good though you will need a car or you'll have to hoof it over to the bus stop several blocks away.

The rooms were very clean and spacious. Check in was a breeze as was the check out. Overall it was a fantastic stay that I'd like to do again.
