“very disappointed”
Reviewed 4 October 2010

Wow! What are you people thinking? This is definately a 2 star hotel! Cookies and a good breakfast shouldn't make this hotel #1 on trip advisory! I was very disappointed. This is the first time trip advisory has let me down. The room was very old and outdated! Definately a typical Best Western or Motel 6 quality!

We stayed at the Elm House only one night and we wished that we could have stayed there the entire week. We were given room 402 - a huge and beautifully appointed king size room. There was a separate toilet, shower, sink area, and also a large sink in a separate area. This was great as my wife and I weren't bumping into each other getting ready in the morning.

The owners were fantastic. They were at our disposal for information the entire stay. The breakfast was plentiful, and included very fresh fruit and a delicious waffle made and served by the owner.

This was more like a large bed and breakfast than a hotel/motel. I would totally recommend this hotel to my friends.

We visited Napa on our first trip to California and absolutely loved staying at Elm House. The owners Connie and Tom made us feel really welcome from the outset and the breakfast was really great. The homemade cookies that they put out every day at 6pm were awesome. Id definitely recommend the hotel. Its around a mile to walk to the shops and restaurants and parking wasnt a problem. A good base to explore Napa.

I had some trepidation in booking this stay since my memories in staying at Best Western properties in the old days was not positive. The Elm House Inn was a very nice surpise. It is a Inn rather than a hotel, and noting like a motel. From the friendly staff, to a perfectly clean King room we were assigned on check in we thought "this will be OK". Actually, it got much better. The free breakfast included good coffee, fresh fruit and warm pastries and breads to Belgium waffles - all served in the lobby/living room or the enclosed patio was a perfect start to the day. Finishing the day with one of the fresh baked, home made cookies in the evening was pretty good also. The inn is located conveniently less than a block from the Hwy 29 entrance (main drage to tour Napa) and on the corner of 2nd street (main route to the river front Main Street and shopping area about a mile away). Very convenient, and only about a 15 minute pleasant walk to the river.

We reserved rooms 402 and 403 following the recommendation of previous Tripadvisor commentators.
It is a B & B, and we were made most welcome and were served great breakfasts.
The family were most helpful with recommendations for local restaurants and attractions.
We would not hesitate to suggest that others to stay here.

This place was perfect. It's totally not what you would expect, being that it's a Best Western [not that that means it can't be nice] but it was like a little Boutique inn more than a hotel. Nice rooms, gorgeous building and grounds, and free delicious breakfast. Right off Hwy 29, perfect location. We would and will stay there again. Oh, did I mention it blows the pants off the other comparable places in the area in price? Sure, you could stay at a $450/night bed and breakfast, but if you're staying in your room that much while in the valley, you might as well not go. YOU SHOULD BE OUTSIDE ENJOYING THE WINE. ;-) Definitely recommend this place. (And it's got free wifi...)

My husband and I stayed at the Elm House Inn during our honeymoon roadtrip for 2 nights. The staff is amazing - when they give recommendations for dining/tours, take them! They know their stuff. Great atmosphere, great breakfast, great cookies, and the staff will bend over backwards for you. Comfy rooms too, and in the detached guesthouse, there is a walk-in closet bigger than some bedrooms I've had. Cozy hot tub in the nicely landscaped courtyard.
