“Oldest continuously used theatre in the West”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

The commitment to producing theatre arts in Nevada City is higher and better than the local size of population would suggest. Add to the variety of live theater and other uses is the thought that Mark Twain peformed in this theatre and its been actively used as a theatre longer than any other building in the West.

“First Class Cast”

We saw "Avenue Q" and it was done as well as the Broadway tour that I saw a few years ago. It was well worth the trip from Sacramento.

“Fabulous Theater in Nevada City”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2013

I don't know how many people visit The Nevada Theatre from out of town, but coming from a local of Nevada City, this theater is very special. Every year, several community theater productions take place and they are always fabulous! All the seats are nice and comfortable with good viewing and there are two levels; the ground floor and the balcony. Besides the live theater venue, there are film sessions. Two major ones are: The Wild and Scenic Film Festival and The Nevada City Film Festival. The theater is accessible to all ages, although some events may not be reccommended for children. It's a place full of life, great location downtown, and always a fun experience!

“Great fun if you enjoy stepping back in time a bit. The theater is old, with all the charm of yesteryear.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2013

Love, love, love local theater. Husband and I have spent many enjoyable evenings watching local theater productions which were way above what we expected. Nevada City is teeming with talented artists of all persuasions. We recently saw the movie Kon Tiki as well. Beverages, popcorn and candy available or bring your own. Seats are old fashion but it is all part of the ambiance of yesteryear. Go, you will enjoy the experience.
