I visited the OCMA during the OC collects exhibition. It contained a very good collection of contemporary and modern artists, including artists such as William de Kooning, Helen Frankenthaler, Ed Ruscha, and Richard Diebenkorn. The museum is in the downtown part of Newport Beach in a building that feels like a warehouse. The floors are painted an industrial gray with stark white walls, not particularly recently painted. There are no windows or outside light in the display rooms. Unfortunately this influenced my appreciation of the collection. Parking is free, but admission is a somewhat high $12. Orange County deserves a better building for its collection.
