The hotel was wonderful! I wanted to do 4.5 stars but couldn't. The ONLY downside was that you can hear rolling suitcases going down the sidewalk...and at midnight, that is an issue. Also there were kids in the pool after hours one night. ON the positive side, concierge is very helpful, housekeeping was wonderful, the rooms are very comfortable, everything was clean, the convention set-up was great and they do no how to make a margarita!

Room Tip: If you can get a Villa, do! Other than that, ask for a balcony.

It’s great to hear that our staff gave you great service! I will make sure they are all aware of your positive feedback. I am truly sorry that there were kids in the pool after hours. I will mention this to my security team to make sure they are keeping a close eye on quiet hours. Thank you again for your feedback. We hope to see you soon!

Great customer service and great amenities. From stay fit , shuffle boards, life size chess board, two different pools one with a slide and their complimentary fresh baked cookies are great.. It's about a ten minute ride to the peninsula but you have your own private beach in the back so if you just want to stay away this is the place to be.

It sounds like you had a great time at Hyatt Regency Newport Beach! We are so happy to hear that you were able to take advantage of all of our amenities. The Back Bay is a great option to explore aside from the beach. They also offer lots of water rentals and activities. We hope to see you soon.

My husband and three children (14, 13, 11) stayed here for 2 nights on our way home to Australia and we should have skipped this hotel and gone directly home! We arrived at 1am after driving up from San Diego. Lady at front desk was not friendly or welcoming. Only told us where the rooms were located (apparently way over in the 70's style older building that looks like a motel, not resort style hotel). She failed to tell us about any of the amenities, including where to get breakfast, location of pools, gym etc. We were all starving after getting off a 6 hour flight from Hawaii and arriving after midnight, room service is closed and as hotel is not near any shops we went to our room hungry! Rooms were Ok having undergone a refurbishment, but beware if travelling with more than 2 children, especially teenagers as doubles are tiny, more like a king single and hotel would not allow a rollaway in this room. They did inform us that they could put a rollaway in the connecting king room but they couldn't find one!! We had breakfast at the hotel in the morning and were charged $25 each for a poor buffet style selection. I couldn't believe that they have the cheek to charge extra for the juices in top of the $25!!!
This hotel would best be suited to large conferences or young families not wishing to explore Newport Beach as it is too secluded, no where to walk to, better off staying at Huntington Beach.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main building.

Thank you for your feedback on our hotel. I'm sorry to hear we didn’t meet all your expectations. I will make sure my overnight front office team is aware of your comments and is coached for all future check-ins. I'm also sorry you weren’t impressed with breakfast. Our full buffet cost $24 and that includes coffee or juice. We also offer a continental breakfast for $14 per person and a regular menu that ranges in price from $8-$15. If you have any questions or concerns about charges, please reach out to a hotel manager directly so we can look into your billing. Again thank you for your feedback so we may make improvements.

The staff is lovely, the property is amazing & the rooms are comfortable. The shuffleboard screams til 1:30am and the pool closing around whenever are major negatives, especially for weekday work conferences held on site

Room Tip: There's a building with a kids slide - this one is actually the quieter one in the evening.

My husband and I stayed at the Hyatt as I was attending a conference there. For conference setting, it was great except it is not close to very many restaurants if one wants to leave the campus at day's end. We stayed on the second floor of the Lido which is very far from the self parking, but very quiet. We had a beautiful balcony overlooking the small golf course and bay; it was a great place to be to relax after conference. King-size bedroom was large and modern although bathroom a bit small. A refrigerator and low ball glasses in bathroom are available. Aesthetically, this hotel can't be beat. Great for children and adults alike. We would stay here again.

My husband, two kids (3 1/2 years and 10 months) and I spent three nights at this amazing resort and did not want to leave!! The kid pool was great entertainment for all of us from the water slide to the putting green and the fun activities throughout the resort kept us having a great time. Also the bike rental (free with the resort fee) allowed us to explore the beautiful Back Bay each day. We also enjoyed the great food and beverages on the resort grounds. We also loved the size and cleanliness of our room. My husband and I enjoyed the quite adult pool as well as our room balcony while our boys napped. We would highly recommend this resort to anyone!!

Hotel service from staff is exceptional, from check-in, to the pool attendants, to room service. As other reviews indicate, the Bay rooms are noisy. You are steps away from a pool that is 9 ft to 4 ft. deep, a water slide, and a splash kids area. Therefore,  through the windows and door you hear plenty of hallway traffic and families having fun. Through the walls and ceilings you could hear bumps, conversations & arguments, kids cry, water noises, and people's steps. Definitely, noisy!

We were there for the 4th of July weekend and so it was quite busy. Pool chairs got used up quickly, but the staff was diligent in helping you find a spot. Kids loved the pool, splash area, and slide! The hotel also had kids activities like face painting, cookie decorating, etc. (though it may have been part of the holiday festivities).

From the outside  the Bay rooms look from the 50s. Inside they are renovated  with current Hyatt decor and furniture, but are very small. Beds are comfortable. Rooms include a mini fridge and safe. Two complaints I have are that the carpet was really filthy... Socks & bare feet were black in no time! Second, wifi was slow and unstable.

The hotel location is across the street from Newport Dunes beach, a bay facing beach with lots of rental equipment available. This made it an exceptional location for 4th of July fireworks. It is a bike ride away from Balboa Island, a 3 min car drive to Fashion Island, and a few minute drive to ocean wave beaches.

3 Tips: 1) if you decide to stay at the Bay building, self park as the parking lot is next door. 2) Bike ride or drive to the ferry in Balboa Island it will take you over the water to Peninsula Park/ Harbor Island/ Balboa fun zone. 3) If your little one is deemed to short/small for the water slide, you can fill out a waiver so she/he could get on it.
