A great little find in the outskirts of Nipomo. After my GPS took me on a roundabout way to get there the kids and I enjoyed our tour of the organic luffa farm. We were greeted by a nice lady who took us into the nursery and told us all about how they grow and the process. The variety of lavendar bushes around the property were amazing to smell too. Plus they use the lavendar to make homemade soaps and lotions. Plenty of herbs around too. the luffas are so nice and soft compared to the ones you get in discount stores.
Overall a nice FREE outing. (Except I spent a good amount on gifts for friends at the gift shop)
I will also be ordering on line too!
Enjoyed the day.

Tucked across for the Black Lake Golf Course in Nipomo, CA you will find The Luffa Farm. This wonderous place on earth will delight you with heavenly smells of herbs, spices and fruits that are used to make their amazing glycerine soaps and lotions. You will also find a small farm growing LUFFA. Yep! That's right! Luffa. This is a must see and experience for yourself how Luffa is grown, harvested and prepared for dazzling your skin. Its the stuff you use to exfoliate your skin but it's so soft, you can use on your car or a baby's skin. They even offer a special luffa just for your face and the glycerine face soap??? It is the most excellent face soap I've ever used and I'm addicted to it. It's natural and absolutely fabulous. This place is a must see when you are at the Central Coast.

This was yet another surprising and delightful find in Nipomo. The farm has plants and charming garden decorations everywhere. You get a personal tour by a very knowledgeable and personable young man when you first arrive. Then you are free to roam the area and peruse the shop. The luffas really are top-quality and they also make a lot of other products using ingredients grown on the farm. A very worth-while jaunt.

Bet you don't know where luffas (or louphas, etc.) come from. Those scrubby things you use in the shower actually come from a gourd and grow on a vine. This you have got to see. This small farm has free, brief tours of the gourd-growing hot-houses, with informative chatter about how this all comes to be. Plus, the coolest gift shop where you can buy inexpensive stuff absolutely no one you know will already have. So if you are driving along U.S. 101, this is a great side trip. Exactly the kind of thing you would go out of your way to see in some quaint foreign town.
