A fun place to look around. Very good selections of cheeses and cookies. A must stop for your picnic goodies. The staff is very friendly.

OK. To be honest, I have not been inside this Cheese Factory, because most locals decided to Boycott the place when they cut down many of the trees that used to line both sides of the highway (without permission) just before they built the place. Those trees were OLD and we really loved them, and they are gone forever because they wanted to make sure people would see their new business while driving by. So, as far as I know, the locals all boycott to this day. You can boycott too if you'd like.

But the one thing I had from there was a grilled Gouda cheese sandwich picked up by a friend once and brought to my house, and it wasn't very good.

This cute little ‘factory’ is really a delicatessen / bakery, part gift store and part cheese factory with a lot of different cheeses / cheesecakes / french baguettes and cookies to buy and take home. Other picnic style items are also available to go with the cheese you buy to make up a delicious picnic. Prices are what you would expect for boutique cheese and home made sundries.

Located on State Highway 120, north of Oakdale it is really along the tourist artery leading to Yosemite. There is quite a big car park, which could take an RV or car. When entering you will see a quaint barn like building that may have seasonal local fruits, vegetables & nuts but it didn’t have a lot on display on our visit here. The biggest building is the factory where short tours can be taken. We didn’t ask and it was also mid week but check online about this tour first.

What’s really nice about a short stopover is the lovely landscaping with ponds connected with a rustic bridge. Both have a fountain and a small waterfall with lots of Koi fish. For the kids (and the young at heart) there is a fabulous petting farm at the back of the property with ducks, geese, sheep, goats, a llama, rabbits and a retired donkey. We saw children buying special food for the animals (very reasonable) and there were squeals of delight (from the kids of course)!

There are tables and chairs directly outside the store or several shaded picnic tables scattered over the grounds where we enjoyed are our yummy grilled cheese sandwiches and cheesecake! So if you happen to be driving by it’s worth stopping to have a bite to eat, rest and walk around the grounds and farm.

Enjoy your experience!
