“Okay in a pinch”
Reviewed 6 November 2007

We decided at the last minute to take a side trip to Yosemite N.P. on the way to Lake Tahoe. Unfortunately, we didn't make reservations ahead of time and so this was the only place available. Honestly, I've stayed in worse, but it definitely wasn't great. It's an older property and could use an update, but there was a bed (which was clean) and a shower (which was average at best) and we only needed a place for one night. I thought it was VERY over-priced, but given the season and the lack of accomodations anywhere else in town, what do you expect?

The hotel was completely fine for spending the night. Hopefully you don't go to Yosemite for the hotels, but rather just to sleep after a long day of exploring. Clean, comfortable and cheap. What more could you ask for?

Unfortunately it was the only hotel in the area with rooms available...from the outside it looks clean and like a nice hotel. The bed was literally like a rock, the threshold was off of the door completely other then one screw (trip hazard) the couch you literally sank in, it was old and in bad condition. The coffee pot still had a used filter in it. The bathtub had used soap still in the soap holder. The dryer didn't work. Windows were so bad you could hardly see out of them. And when we contacted the front desk they apologized and said they would notify housekeeping, nothing else. I wrote a letter to corporate office aftewards and they didn't even respond to the letter. Will never recommend this hotel or stay in one again.

This place is dirty, overpriced, and dirty. Dryer was broken, microwave was broken, the strip holding down the carpet to the bathroom was half off, the tv reception was bad and the room was just dirty, windows, floors, tables. And this was a suit!!!! The room above us had a Jacuzzi and when they ran the water it sounded like it was in our room. The breakfast buffet was very very small. We thought we may have just caught them on a bad day so we wrote them a letter hoping for at least a partial refund but got no reply. Stay away, better off going up the road a ways and sleeping in the woods.

We had to unexpectedly spend two nights in Oakhurst due to road closures to Yosemite and ended up staying at this hotel. All other hotels in the town were fully booked.

From the outside it looks a bit worse for wear, but the receptionist was friendly enough and the room was huge and had a fridge. It was clean enough, and considering some of the rates being quoted for other places in town, $100 per night was reasonable. Yes, the decor looks like it hasn't really changed since the '70s, but it was good enough for our purposes. I think that we were lucky judging by other accounts about room cleanliness.

The breakfast is pretty appalling though - a terrible selection served in styrofoam in a bare room - better to go to the Starbucks up the road than eat breakfast in the hotel. As long as you bear this in mind you should be OK.

last minute booking - now realise why this hotel was not booked up. Really expensive for awful rooms. We had a group of boys on a 'spring break' making noise till 4am. "Breakfast" was served in polystyrene cups in a soulless room. Camp under the stars with the bears DON'T STAY HERE.

This "hotel" is horrible! I have never had the displeasure of staying in such a place.

I wanted to check out the second I walked into the room, but it was in the wee hours of the morning so we decided to stick through it and just go to sleep.

The bathroom was repulsive, it looked like a five year old cleaned it (actually a five year old could of done a better job). There was crusty mold and mildew on the tub, on the walls. The sink had toothpaste crusties from former residents. The floors were dirty as if they hadn't been swept (we found hairs all over the place like a frat house toilet instead of a 100 dollar a night room toilet).

The beds, oh man, the beds were probably nice back in 1980 when they were new. They have springs in them that poked us, we sunk into the middle of the bed. The sheets were ok, smelled clean, but the comforter was obviously not washed. We had a blanket of our own thank goodness so used that instead. There were spiderwebs in the room, all over the place. There were several cigarette burns in the comforter, carpet, wall, furniture. This was supposed to be a "non smoking room".

The staff at night (when we checked in) were rude. The woman walked from behind the counter to smoke as we were walking out to go to our room. She didn't even wait to say goodbye, just stuck a cigarette in her mouth and strolled towards the pool area.

The lobby was dirty, dusty and quaint. There were notes taped where we could see them with words that are not allowed to be put in this article.

Later when I went down to lobby to ask if there was a snack machine I found the woman who had checked us in flirting/pawning over a man outside the front doors. She was very rude then as if I had interrupted her. Hello? You are getting paid right?

There were teenagers outside of the building smoking cigarettes and talking loudly. The highway is right next to the motel and we heard many loud cars go by.

We checked out about 9am the next morning. There was a long wait to check out, and when we complained to another worker we had the pleasure of getting an eye roll and a sigh.

This is such a nice town, but unfortunetly they have a business that is horrible. This place needs to have a health inspector visit.

Stay someplace else in Oakhurst, and read up about it before you make a reservation!
