The hotel is clean and well organized. The grounds open and more beautiful than a typical motel. It's a bit of drive, 1.5 hours to the valley floor, but the accomodations are great for families. We had a large two room suite with 3 queen beds. It made traveling with 2 kids much more comfortable. The rates are very reasonable and the restaurant on site has _great_ breakfasts. The staff is helpful and friendly, couldn't ask for a better place to stay while visiting Yosemite.

We had been skiing to Badger pass many times and have always tried to stay at Oakhurst - the closest town in the area. Last year, we stayed at the Yosemite Gateway Hotel which has been acquired by Best Western.
The hotel has a main reception/restaurant building built like a wood chalet and many buildings behind with the rooms. The reception area is very nice with a stone fire-place and all decked out with decorations for that nice holiday atmosphere. The room was comfortable and away from the road. Breakfast was not included but hot-cooked and nice.
There are also several restaurants down the road but check during holiday season as they tend to close early (8pm ish).
We were able to get to Badger pass in less than an hour from here and it felt very inviting and cheery when we returned from the cold slopes.
Price is reasonable for the time of the year. Worth the price!

Stayed here after leaving San Francisco and visiting Yosemite on the way to Las Vegas.
Found the roads to and from Yosemite to be a bit of a nightmare and very frightning especially at night so was very pleased to reach the hotel. Not what you would call a modern hotel but for what you pay its very good, the rooms were large and clean with the beds being really comfy. It has an indoor and outdoor pool which we didn't use but they looked inviting. The restaurant next door was not too bad either with a good choice for dinner and breakfast. The guy on reception gave my wife the creeps but she has been watching to many American films !!

After driving for hours and hours, we decided to spend the night in Oakhurst before venturing into Yosemite Valley. There is much ongoing road work inside the park, so rather than drive for hours and hours and then suffer the long waits into the valley, we decided to visit the Mariposa Grove just inside the park and spend the night in Oakhurst.
We had few expectations, but were more than pleasantly surprised. It's an older hotel, but the room was updated with one of the most comfortable mattresses I have ever slept on. The hotel is very large, on a rolling hill covered in old California Oak trees. It was quiet, relaxing and enjoyable. Our room had a small patio with chairs and overlooked the hills. There are two pools and the indoor pool was warm and inviting.
After a great night's sleep, we headed into Yosemite Valley with the posted road work delays taking more time than anticipated, but we were refreshed and happy that we had spent the night relaxing in Oakhurst.

Great staff! The room was fine for our needs and everybody loved our dog. The room was kept clean and the maid service was very attentive. We had fun in the indoor pool, work-out room and sitting in the gardens. Our room was in the very back of the property, by choice, and in the morning, taking Lucy for her walk, deer were on the property. We loved this location so much, the people at Best Western and Oakhurst, we are seriously considering moving here at retirement. Best Western Yosemite Gateway will always be a location of choice for us.

My family with 2 young kids stayed here on a Friday night on our way into Yosemite. Timed the drive - it's exactly 20 minutes from the southern gate and 1 hour 15 mins. to Yosemite Valley. Our room was in the back of the property which goes up a steep hill. Room was clean, comfy and roomy. Pillows were great! Great balcony view of a meadow type grassy area with kid's playground to the left of the lawn area. They have both an indoor and outdoor pool. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly (thank you Debi) and the restaurant staff was very friendly and attentive with our food orders that we picked up from the restaurant and took back to the room (sorry don't remember your name).

Starbucks, Rite-Aid and other fast food places just down the street. We paid about $89 which I felt was a good value. They had an exercise room too I noticed, but didn't use it - then again, who really does when they're on vacation?

The only negative I can think of was perhaps wish the indoor pool was a few degrees warmer, but that's me, the kids didn't mind though. Would most definitely stay here again!
