My wife and I have been going to Plum for several years now, and have always found the food to be amazing. The presentation is delightful and the flavors are unusual and inventive, but always comforting. In September 2013, the restaurants changed chefs, and to some degree approach, but the quality and service remain very high, and the tasting menu is extraordinary. Worth a trip to Oakland.

My son and his wife took me to this restaurant for my birthday. Unique drinks, good service, a fairly simple menu. Lovely presentation. Even got to see our Mayor walk in and dine. Menu items equistely prepared. Lots of flavors. Wine list is very simple but for the occasion I brought something from home and they uncorked it for us. A pleasant treat!

This is one of the newer somewhat hipper-than-thou haunts in downtown Oakland. The somewhat gloomy interior and hard wooden seating is a little off-putting at first, but...the food really does stand out. Interesting combination of ingredients, well composed and presented dishes, if smallish and expensive. It's a definite foodie outpost; was not so crowded on a Sunday though bustling on other nights.

The best food I've eaten in a long time - recently have been to NY, Vancouver, LA, Seattle, and some of the best SF restaurants with clients and friends/family. This was the best experience by far - vegetarian food is a must whether or not you're veg! Everything is innovative, fresh, and the chefs do a great job at keeping up with seasonal local foods - we are lucky in the Bay Area to have so much bounty, but not all the restaurants are as versatile and innovative as Plum. Gorgeous interior, great service, terrific food. Have gone over and over again, not one tiny slip up ever! The very best.

Destination spot, must go if in downtown Oakland! Great wine parings. Try the gnocchi, fried oysters & bacon or any of the fresh fish specials.
