“Pristine rooms and a quiet night's sleep.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2010

While the location is not perfect, the rooms are super clean and super quiet and you will be sure to get a good night's sleep which is what matters. Comfortable beds with down pillows as well. Breakfast includes the usual cereal, bagel and toast offering along with fresh waffles you make yourself. Good value at $65/night.

Not the best area, although we had no problems. #1 is the rooms and breakfast area and the entire hotel WAS CLEAN! The breakfast was rather good as well. Friendly folks. We would go back.

We were in CA for a wedding, and wanted to fly back out of Oakland. This motel was very conveniently located, well secured, the staff was very helpful, and a great bargain for the price. We checked in, took the rental car back, shuttled back to the motel, and were set for the early flight. The room was clean, and in a quiet area.
The next morning, the staff had breakfast out early, and the shuttle was ready as needed.
I would not go out for a walk in the area, but if you just want to stay and fly, it's a great spot.

We stayed the night before our early morning flight out of the Oakland Airport. Parking for 2 weeks was included with the room rate. Good breakfast. Shuttle to the airport on the hour and half hour. Shuttle from airport to the hotel on 15 and 45 minutes. Both shuttles were on time. Airline crew stay here.

I flew in for a one night stay for a business trip in downtown Oakland. I booked the hotel without reading any reviews. Here's my summary:

Positives:
1. airport shuttle-It ran on time and runs every 30 minutes from very early in the morning to very late at night. No problems here. Drivers were quite curteous and helpful.

2. staff-They were friendly and extremely helpful. The girl at the front desk went above and beyond what I expected. No problems with check-in.

3. room-I honestly saw no real disappointments with my room. The bedsheets were clean, the tv worked fine, the bathtub looked as clean as one can expect a hotel bathtub to look, towels were dry, clean and plentiful, shampoo and soap stocked, and my biggest pet peeve of all, there were no cockroaches to be found anywhere.

4. internet-Wireless connection worked great in my room.

5. food-Free continental breakfast with eggs, sausage, muffins, bagels, waffles, yogurt, cereal, OJ and coffee. Nothing that knocked my socks off but it did the job of filling my stomach.

6. others-You can print out your boarding passes here for free at a computer in the main dining room but no internet access there.

Negatives
1. Thin walls-My dad and I had just fallen asleep when the paper thin walls allowed us to hear people engaged in loud activity in the next room. I could tell by my dad clearing his throat, sighing, and then the awkward silence, that he did not appreciate this. :I

2. Neighborhood-I had no problems walking around during the day. I walked to the Denny's which was a block away and saw shady looking people just hanging out. On my way back, I spotted condom wrappers on the sidewalks. Two sketchy looking gentlemen were walking in and around the hotel lobby during the wee hours of the morning. I wouldn't park here.

3. Restaurants-There's an aforementioned Denny's, Burger King, and a couple other fast food restaurants about a block from the hotel. Nothing else.

Summary:
Great service, clean rooms, nice breakfast, good value. But be forewarned, it's in a shady neighborhood so book at your own discretion. I would still come back because of the value and excellent service but only if I'm staying for one night and with someone else.

While I recommend this hotel for location and cleanliness (minus the filthy carpets) I'd say stay somewhere else if you want to stay in a watch a little telelvision. There are about 6 sports channels, 6 spanish language channels, 1 kid channel, 5 news channels, and no stations that appeal to women, though there are always more women staying at the hotel than men or spanish speaking customers when I'm there. Invest in the Lifetime Channel or some type of programming for us women. The last thing I want to see when I get in from a 10 hour meeting is a bunch of half naked Latino women on TV or some classic football game.

I have returned to this hotel and it has improved considerably over the last time. Everything is very clean, the grounds and rooms. Breakfast has a large variety. The hotel is a good value for this area. The main drawback is you must have a car, I would not recommend walking to the nearby restaurants.
