Owner description: We pride ourselves on making one varietal that is food-friendly and deliciously drinkable upon release. Our story begins in the early 1970's when Ray Duncan befriended winegrower Justin Meyer. The two formed a partnership and co-founded Silver Oak Cellars in 1972 with the bold vision of producing only Cabernet Sauvignon. Come experience the Silver Oak Cellars Napa Valley winery in Oakville, CA to enjoy exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon wine tasting tours.

If you have visited Napa recently, you know the tasting fees are pricey. We are all lovers of Cabernet and Silver Oak so we did a tasting of a vertical of Silver Oak Napa. For $60, we tasted 2004-2009. We had a private room and John did an amazing job walking us through it. You walk away having tasted yummy wine and a glass from Silver Oak! A must do!

Had a scheduled tasting and tour. Our taster/guide was Alan...a very nice gentleman. The wine was wonderful! The vineyard was beautiful! Put it on your Napa wine tour!

This is not really a learning or architecture experience. This is only worth it a.) if you LOVE trying Silver Oak, b.) if you love Silver Oak and you absolutely would feel incomplete in your life by not visiting, and c.) if you need to buy something from Silver Oak AT Silver Oak. I meet all three of these. My wife does not, and she would have passed on this one. The downside is they offer almost no information or discussion value to the tasting.

The wine (their specialty is the cab) speaks for itself and is outstanding. It's worth the trip to taste a few. With that being said, we didn't love our tasting experience. The room was crowded (Friday afternoon) and our server was rude. It seemed like she couldn't be bothered with our questions. The grounds are nice. My advice would be to take your last tasting (or all three) and go sit outside to enjoy it. This is clearly a popular stop by many wine tour companies. Might try to go first thing and the experience would be more personal.

We had a drop in tasting. It was somewhat informative. We had their current selection. The best part of the $20 tasting is the glass that comes with it.

The wine room was well designed. The grounds are very scenic and well maintained.
