Unexpected pleasure greeted us at every turn during our stay at The Inn at Occidental from the charming garden to the gourmet breakfasts with all the treats in between. The warmth and graciousness of our hosts, Inn Keepers Tina and Jerry, were reflected in the aura and charm in every nook and cranny of the Inn. The rooms we were invited to look at in addition to our own were each uniquely decorated with artifacts from the past and a feast for the eyes to behold. Our experience was a romantic getaway and a respite from the rush and stress of everyday living. The bed and linens were luxurious; apparently the sheets were ironed and smelled so clean. The Jacuzzi was large and efficient, worked extremely well especially after the trek through the redwood forest and walking the trail on the bluffs of the Sonoma coast with all the beautiful wildflowers.

From the moment we arrived to the final check out we were treated with the utmost in hospitality! Jerry & Tina greated us by name, remembered that we were on our honeymoon, had a bottle of Korbel champange delivered on ice to our room.
Our room was decorated in a wine country motif, complete with a spa and stocked refridgerator. The grounds are well landscaped and maintained. Every morning we had a delicious breakfast served in the dining room of the main house. Jerry is well versed in the area, supplying assistance in planning our day from biking to wine tasting or luxuriating at a local spa. Wine and cheese hour as well as dessert dujour was offered everyday. We can't find enough superlatives to describe this place.
It also reasonably priced.

Underwhelming Experience.....the hosts were very pleasant and helpful but the actual inn is very average and standard...stayed in the Glass Cut room and brought back memories of being in a dorm room in terms of hearing all the noises of other guests in the hallway and in the adjacent rooms. ..not conducive to a romantic getaway. Also we soon realized that the bed in our room was actually two beds combined into one hence explaining the odd squeaking of the bed...this was disconcerting but did not let it damper our experience.
Good to remember that this is a bed and breakfast and not a hotel or luxury inn. It is akin to staying at your aunt's place in the country. I do have to agree that the breakfast is the highlight of the experience.
In the future will pay a little more and stay at a luxury inn in the wine country.

I had planned a vacation for a week in California and at the last minute decided to take my sister with me. We stayed at The Inn at Occidental for 3 days and had the most wonderful and relaxed time there. Jerry and Tina (the Innkeepers) were very gracious and treated us like family.

The inn is nestled in the side of a hill overlooking the small town of Occidental and gave us the warm feeling of walking into someone's home. Each room is decorated with a different theme (I stayed in the Marbles room while my sister had the Sandwich Glass room) and both of our rooms had jacuzzis and fireplaces that lit up instantly with a flick of a switch! The rooms were comfortable and charming yet spacious and everything was so clean.

Since meals are downstairs in a beautiful large dining room, we had ample opportunities to mingle with other guests. (The inn's homemade granola is worth getting up for every morning!). There is a wine and cheese hour every evening in the lobby/living room with lots of wine and cheese! And a L-shaped front porch which was an excellent spot for sitting outside, looking at the scenery and reading a book.

We were less than 15 minutes from beaches on the Pacific (with seals!) and drove through the most beautiful countryside to get there.

The people of Occidental were friendly and helpful and I can't wait to go back again!

Jerry and Tina, thank you for a WONDERFUL stay!

We stayed at the Inn for a few nights as part of our honeymoon and treated ourselves to a suite. It was perfect. We were made to feel extremely welcome, the room was beautiful and the Inn itself had a nice cozy atmosphere. The wine and cheese in the evenings is a lovely touch and the breakfasts were superb. Occidental itself is a quaint little town with some really nice little restaurants. The best meal we had during our whole week in California was at the Bistro de Copains, just across the road from the Inn.

In sum, the Inn is a must-stay for anyone visiting the area and makes a fantastic break for those wanting to escape San Francisco for a night or two. Wonderful.

The Inn/rooms are charming and the breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed the laid back atmosphere. We were touched to find a bottle of champagne in our room (we were celebrating our anniversary). The drive to the inn from Sonoma via Russian River valley was beautiful. Would recommend getting concrete directions if driving back and forth from the Inn to Jenner/Bodega Bay-30 minute drive (dinner at River's End Restaurant) as we had trouble due to the heavy fog.

We had heard good things about the inn and it more than lived up to expectations. It was beautiful and the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. They upgraded us to a larger room and sent us complimentary champagne because we were on our honeymoon and went out of their way to find us a box to ship our wine in. We'll definitely be
back.
