We chose to stay in Ojai over Christmas and the only suite available was the Lilly Pad Suite. I've stayed at the hotel before so I knew the decor and grounds were beautiful, and this suite turned out to be perfect. There were 4 of us and 1 of us likes to cook so the kitchen was important. It was adequate, but really needs to be a little better stocked with pots and pans. The place over all was just roomy enough for us and we loved it. The main bedroom has 2 queen beds in it, as well as a spa tub right inside the room (could be a privacy issue). However, there is a private bathroom attached. The 2nd bedroom is a loft up the spiral staircase with a King size bed. The living room has a bathroom with tub/shower combo attached to it. There is a patio off the kitchen / dining and one off the main bedroom as well. Both are lovely but the kitchen patio is right next to Cricket, so if those people are outside or have their doors open it can be less than quiet.

We really enjoyed being next to the pool area, having quick access to the morning coffee and afternoon wine. One afternoon a young woman was playing flute for all on the patio enjoying their afternoon happy hour. The hot tub is next to the pool and we had a great evening soak, but it's a bit on the small side only fitting 4 people comfortably.

You really can't beat the wonderful Balinese decor, homey and comfortable feel, and gorgeous grounds not only reflected in the architecture but also the beautiful trees which have a way of embellishing and ornamenting the buildings. I'm looking forward to my next stay at the Emerald Iguana already.

Room Tip: Lilly Pad Suite's 2nd King bedroom is a loft above the living room up the spiral staircase - lov...

My husband and I stayed here for one night to celebrate our anniversary. The grounds were meticulously kept. The room was not only beautiful, but also immaculate. The staff was accommodating and welcoming. The atmosphere of the Emerald Iguana exudes peace and relaxation. We can't wait to get back!

Room Tip: The Grasshopper room is very romantic with a bear claw tub located in the room. There is a private p...

This was our first time in Ojai, and we had a great experience there which was enhanced by our stay at the Emerald Iguana Inn. We had the Frog Suite, which was really a small house-sized suite, with kitchen, spacious living room, large bedroom & bath, and a spacious covered porch with comfortable chairs. The breakfast was more than adequate, and our hostess was friendly and helpful. Anyone renting the Frog suite should know, however, that the bed has wood side rails which they would feel getting into and out of the bed. Also, for those who like to read in bed, the lighting was not good, as the small table with a lamp on it had to be moved to make room to get into the left side of the bed. All in all, these were minor inconveniences for a truly charming inn with lush landscaping and a quiet location.

Room Tip: We noticed that one or perhaps two of the rooms were situated close to the pool filter, which we cou...

The Emerald Iguana is a favorite, but they have recently remodeled and the place really benefited from the redo! We stayed in the Cricket suite, which has two floors, two balconies, an enclosed patio, enough beds for 3 people, a full kitchen and two TVs. Having said all that, the best thing about this place is how tranquil it is. There is a no kids no pets policy; the sister property Blue Iguana Inn is a family friendly inn up the road, so even though it was New Year's Eve, the hot tub was occupied until very late, it was quiet and lush. From every window, we felt like we were in a tree house. The staff is great; the room was cleaned while we were out for breakfast! Ojai is a place to go if you want to ride a bike, watch the sun set, read a book, eat some great food. And the Emerald Iguana Inn is the place to stay. So beautiful, so calm, so tranquil, just what you want when the world is weighing you down! Happy New Year!

We came here for our tenth anniversary looking for a romantic, secluded getaway. We found that and more. From the helpful, unobtrusive staff to the beautiful architecture and serene setting to the proximity to town, this place was perfect. We will be returning for sure and recommending to all our friends and family.

Room Tip: Any room is amazing, but the cottages are truly remarkable.

I go to Emerald Iguana to be quiet, to be peaceful, and to revel in the joys of Ojai. My work is stressful and demanding, and this respite is exactly the right tonic. People are helpful and engaging and you can't beat the location or the facilities. I book a week every year.

Room Tip: If natural light is a deal-breaker for you, be sure you check out which room you will be in.

My husband and I stayed in the Acorn Suite while visiting relatives in Ojai. The suite was cozy and comfy with a full kitchen, dining area and sitting area that included a stove with gas logs. The TV was in the sitting area so no TV watching was possible from the bed. There was a spacious private courtyard off our suite. Service by all the staff was very good. Our only complaint was the bathroom. The configuration was odd and awkward. The sink was just off the sleeping area but the toilet and shower were up a floor. Seriously. Three giant steps up. And the toilet faced a wall and was very, very close. Knees to wall close. We would definitely stay here again but would choose another space to avoid this weird bathroom design.

Room Tip: If steps are an issue then avoid the Acorn Suite because the bathroom is up a floor.
