A nicely renovated hotel, walking distance to Ojai. Two story hotel, newly painted rooms with balcony or patios, flat screen TV's, dvd player with free rentals, mini fridg and microwave in rooms.
Continental breakfast with instant oatmeal, bagels, breads, assorted cereals, yoghurt, soy milk, milk, cocoa, teas and coffee. Local fresh fruit (oranges and grapefruit).
Manager on site was friendly and helpful. Local artist works throughout hotel.

Room Tip: If you plan to use the free wi-fi, ask for a room with wi-fi availability as we were in #210 at the...

We received a Groupon as a gift to stay here for two nights. The hotel very 60's from the outside but the lobby and rooms have been renovated. It just seems they didn't take the extra step to make and they cut corners. The towels are TERRIBLE and the bed and pillows are really hard. Neither my husband or I slept well. Besides the towels, bed and pillows the rooms are nice and modern. Nice TV's and we had a great patio. The staff was also very accommodating. We did stop by and take advantage of the continental breakfast (available until 11AM). The location was great. You can walk everywhere or use the bikes from the hotel. I wouldn't pay more than $100 a night honestly.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the bottom floor so you have a bigger patio.

The Capri is basically a 1960's motel redone and upgraded in order to be passed off as a boutique hotel. The problem is that they just didn't go far enough in the renovations or upgrades in order to charge the exorbitant prices they charge. We got a deal through Bloomspot.com so our room was $100/night, and they aren't worth any more than that. I believe the same room would cost $182/night ordinarily (on weekends at least). They are understaffed, but the two people working the front desk are very nice and accomodating when they aren't busy answering phones. The rooms are adequate but small and not nice enough to call themselves "deluxe" or "suites". The baseboards were falling apart, the towels were old and crappy and the mattress was cheap and uncomfortable. There are new floors and nice flat screen tv's, but other than that they are basic, motel rooms. This hotel looks charming from the outside and the pool area is nice (the pool was freezing in April) and the location is great - just a short walk from the main center of Ojai. I would recommend the Capri if you are in your 20's, no kids, have a dog and on a budget or don't mind very basic accomodations. It's definitely a motel that is trying to be a hotel and it just doesn't quite go far enough.

We come to Ojai at least twice a month to escape Los Angeles. The Capri is hand down the BEST choice. The rates are PERFECT and make getting away often very affordable. The rooms are cute, modern, and feel very personal (cool art, funky paint). They have great room snacks avail for purchase as well as a fridge and microwave. I loved the eco friendly shampoos and lotions (great touch). But for me it was how personal and hip the vibe is. Christopher heads up the team. I loved his style and laid back approach to running a hotel. Desiree helped us at the front desk and went above and beyond for us as we managed to leave our keys in the room and seemed to have unending amounts of questions about Ojai. Bottom line... Ojai can feel old and country and although we love that feel, The Capri gave us a touch of modern in this beautiful country town!

This was an old motel at the east end of town that has been tastefully refurbished offering large rooms, a great pool and hot tub area and a nice continental breakfast in the comfortable lobby. The main floor rooms have a large private patio c/w loungers and the 2nd floor rooms which offer a bit of a view have a good size balcony. The pools (separate one designed for children) and hot tub get the afternoon sun and is kept clean and welcoming. They have a barbecue there and two cabanas with loungers. There is free internet available in the lobby. Wi-fi was advertised but not available during our 2 night stay. The front desk staff was pleasant and accomodating. Thanks to Christopher(the manager) for all his good suggestions. Housekeeping missed us however the property seemed well maintained and clean.

A coat of paint and some cheap "trendy" furniture don't qualify you to change your name from a motel to a hotel. They get a a B grade for effort but deteriorating floor panels and holes in the patio floor are just ridiculous. At least we only paid $99 via Bloomspot for a night. Paying full price of $180 is criminal. Hell, $99 is a rip off. The bed is a cheap motel bed with a college dorm yellow pad on it to make it softer. My wife and I woke up in pain after a bight's sleep.

All in all it is a somewhat decent attempt to offer a boutique experience in Ojai. The mgmt just needs to really step it up of they want to attempt to draw folks 30+ who truly care about the experience. I can't say I'd recommend it or ever stay here here again.
