“best little private heaven close to everything”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 January 2013

We spent two nights in this wonderful little cottage (Sunflower Cottage). The weather was rainy and cold so we ended up spending most of the time in the cottage, which was so relaxing and quiet. This was exactly what we needed escaping from the busy city life. Tending fire at the wood stove was so calming and got me into such a deep meditative state, and playing with cats and chickens added a nice treat to our vacation. There is a very reliable electric heater as well but wood stove is quite powerful once it gets going. Time was moving so slowly and nicely that it felt like we were in a different dimension.
The bed was very comfortable with extra comforter and blankets. We also liked that the bedroom can be closed off and can be used as a completely separate room.
Nice CD selection but you can also bring your own ipod to play your own music.
I can see how Kelly, the owner has carefully prepared and set up things in the room considering guests' needs. Everything is compact and just right. We also liked the ecofriendly choices in toileteries and garbage disposal setting.
If you are looking for a quiet time away this is it!
We can't wait to return.

This is a small rustic property with a few cottages and clean comfortable rooms in the main house. The Farmer's Parlor had a good bed, small sitting area overlooking the horses next door along with dishes and small food prep area tucked into an antique sideboard. Farmhouse decor made the room warm and appealing, along with the black cat and chickens that greet you when you step outside. If staying for more than two days I would try to opt for a cottage if available. The cottages are just off the main road and close to the entrance to Pt Reyes Natl Seashore which was our main destination for the trip. Making reservations was easy and efficient.
Olema is very small and quiet, compared to the town of Pt Reyes itself. Just down the street is a old roadhouse with great food and drinks.

Had one of the most relaxing stays at Olema Cottages. The Farmer's Parlor is little rustic, but that gives it it's charm. The chickens and the friendly black cat (we never got bit) was a big plus. Had a blast feeding the chickens. They even have good taste in music! They all ran over, and gathered around to listen to me play guitar.
I recommend this for couples, and for families with little ones. What a great retreat !

I have stayed at Olema Cottages before on the Farmstead I think in the Nest but this time I chose the Honeybee Cottage. While I was warned about street noise, it was not bad at all. It's the perfect cozy space for one or two. Clean, comfortable bed, all the stuff you need to make your own meals. The property is nice with large oak trees and places to sit in sun or shade. On the last day, just when I thought there were no cows in the cow pasture, I found one staring at me at the window! I had a very relaxing stay - which was just what i needed.
Loved the fresh flowers on the table - thank you.

Room Tip: The cabin is great but I didn't check 5 star service because there is none really. You arrive to...

Had a two-night stay in Sunflower cottage with my daughter and found it charming and relaxing. The cottage is reasonably well equipped if you feel like cooking. Good location for Pt Reyes.

I stayed at Robin's Retreat with my husband for a romantic weekend and it was just perfect. Our cottage was very clean, charming, cozy and comfortable. The owner was really helpful and replied to my emails promptly. The bathroom is huge and has a fireplace and jacuzzi, the bedroom is gorgeous with high ceilings and lots of light. Its location is also pretty convenient, only a 6 min drive to Main St with amazing restaurants and 5 min to the Point Reyes Seashore Visitor Center where you can start several hikes.
Already planning when to go back...

My husband and I stayed in Berry Vine Cottage for 6 nights and could easily have stayed a month! The cottage was clean, comfortable, and carefully arranged to feel spacious and inviting. The large screened porch was my favorite "amenity" - I spent more time there than inside! The property is lovely, the location perfect, and the weather - at least for our stay - spectacular.

As the owner points out on the website, this is a "hands-off" kind of place, so don't expect daily cleaning and linen service. Do expect a fully functional kitchen stocked with coffee and tea; plenty of towels, sheets, and extra blankets; an eclectic selection of books, videos, CDs, and games; wireless internet (not always fast, but good enough to handle e-mail and light web work); ice for drinks and coolers; beach chairs, blankets, and towels; and the world's friendliest chickens! A coin laundromat is right up the street and a deli and two restaurants are within spitting distance. Simply put, had we brought nothing but our clothes and money for groceries, we would have had everything we needed for a wonderful vacation.

As mentioned above, the location is outstanding. Less than 1/2 mile from the entrance to Point Reyes National Park, it offers easy access to all the park has to offer the outdoor enthusiast. The Napa valley is an hour or so away, as is San Francisco, for those more interested in food, wine, and city pleasures. Local stables offer a variety of riding experiences and both kayaks and bicycles can be rented in nearby Point Reyes Station.

Kelly, the owner, was quick to respond to all e-mail inquiries and was very helpful with our request for a last-minute additional guest. So, to the extent that we required service, we got it quickly, efficiently, and cheerfully.

Best vacation spot ever - we can't wait to return!

Room Tip: Read the cottage descriptions on the website as each offers its own unique flavor.
