“A fantastic stay at the Roundstone Farm”
Reviewed 13 May 2014 via mobile

We spent two nights at the Roundstone Farm and hated to leave. The B&B itself is warm and welcoming with a comfortable sitting area and beautiful gardens just outside. There is coffee available 24 hrs via a Keurig and there was even plenty of decaf stocked for us caffeine averse people! The sitting area was a great place to sit in the evening or morning and talk with the other guests. Breakfast was great. Frank, the owner and innkeeper did an amazing job with a frittata one morning and stuffed French toast the next and abundant fresh fruit as a first course. The room was great, plenty of space for all our "stuff" and a really comfortable bed, the room was extremely clean and fresh as was the entire place. Definitely a great start to our trip up the Northern California Coast. We highly recommend staying here and if we are ever back we would definitely stay again

My wife and I just got back from our stay here and we can't say enough good things about the property and host.

Check-in is after 4pm, but a note is left on the front door with a code for the door and room instructions. A nice thing, not to have to schedule a meeting with someone just to get inside (a.k.a. Airbnb). Keys to the rooms can be found in the locks of each room.

The common areas are spacious and relaxing with plenty of reading materials, and the deck is a perfect spot to watch the sunset or read while enjoying a complementary tea or coffee. My wife enjoyed the use of the semi-sheltered hot tub (which was important with the crazy wind we were having!).

The room we stayed in was large, warm and comfortable with a nice view of the side of the property. The wildflowers were in full bloom so it was very picturesque. There was no TV in the room, so it was nice and quiet, perfect for a getaway. The fireplace is a nice touch (we did not partake... maybe next time) and a space heater is also provided if it gets too cold. The free WiFi allowed us to check in on things and plan out the weekend, which was important because service can be very spotty in the area. The only thing I would have liked better was if we had a firmer bed (very comfy for my wife, but soft beds tend to make my back ache a bit).

Frank made us feel very welcome and he is very knowledgeable about the area and locals. He also makes a very nice breakfast. Simple and tasty with plenty of hot coffee! Guests are not allowed to use the kitchen to prepare food, but you can use the refrigerator if you need to store something during your stay.

All in all, a very enjoyable stay. We'll be back!

We often go to Point Reyes in April to hike and celebrate our anniversary. Roundstone Farm is our favorite inn. This is not a "cutesy" inn with Victorian knick-knacks, etc. It was purpose-built to function as an inn, which means the rooms are large and comfortable. The rooms are each on a slightly different level so that no two share walls, which makes for a very quiet and relaxing evening. We last stayed in the Pond Room, which is off the living room (no stairs if that's an issue for anyone). Large king bed (which can be made into twins, I think). Each room I believe has a fireplace. The Pond Room has corner windows with beautiful views over the rolling hills and the pond on the property. It has a fairly large bathroom with shower-tub.

The living room is very large with views out to the pond and hills. The inn is very quiet and great for reading either what you brought with you, or one of the many books and magazines at the inn. There are menus provided for the local restaurants.

Roundstone is walking distance to two restaurants - the Farm House (very serviceable; not gourmet) and the new restaurant that's in the Olema Inn. This one is very foodie-oriented.

What I love about the inn is the large wrap-around deck. I love to sit with a book and coffee and enjoy the views. Roundstone has many acres of rolling hills. Right below the deck is a beautiful pond full of birds...loads of red-wing blackbirds with their interesting calls. At night if you leave the windows open you can hear the frogs calling. There are horses in the neighboring pastures. Behind the house is a great semi-enclosed hot tub. The views are fantastic and Frank keeps it very clean. Robes and slippers are provided in the rooms.

Breakfast is a real treat. Coffee is provided about 7:30 and breakfast is at 8:30. They have a new Keurig coffee machine with lots of choices for times when the innkeepers are not around. Frank is a great conversationalist with lots of stories about the local area. Plus, a guy who provides a big plate just of bacon can't be bad!

Another nice thing is you don't have to come at a specific time for check-in. Frank leaves a note on the door with instructions how to get in, so you don't have to worry about rushing to get there in the afternoon (check in any time after 4 PM). Frank is very available in the morning but doesn't hover the rest of the day, which is great with us.

The inn is really conveniently located for anything you'd like to do in the Point Reyes area.

One last thing...I consider the prices for Roundstone very reasonable for the area.

Room Tip: The Pond Room is right off the living room, so no stairs. Corner room with great views. Fireplace...

I just wanted to thank Frank for his kindness and graciousness in not charging me for cancelling my reservation 2 days before we were supposed to arrive (due to a death in the family). I'm disappointed to be missing this stay at what looks to be a wonderful property run by great people!

OMGolly, this bed & breakfast is a gem! We spent 2 nights in the meadow room and got to enjoy beautiful views of the california hillsides, hummingbirds playing in the nearby bush! You can't beat hot tubbing on cold nights after long day walks! Frank makes a great breakfast, but a little too early for me while I'm on vacation, lol. I had such a nice time here and enjoyed the scenery and local area so much, I can't wait to come back again!

Room Tip: Pick your poison, they're all great!

The Roundstone Farm B&B Inn was a lovely place to stay for our first couple of nights on the west coast and I would stay here again. Frank is a wonderful host and is very knowledgable about the area, without being overbearing and pushy. The room was clean and the hot tub was lovely after a cool day hiking in the park. The Sir & Star is a fantastic restaurant (one of our best meals ever) and is a short walk away. We stayed 3 nights and the breakfasts each morning were delightful and interesting. The sitting area was equipped with makings for tea and coffee and well stocked with a variety of books for those wanting a quiet day.

I'm re-writing my review as the first one I guess wasn't long enough or contained the right info. Well, try #2. Roundstone is an excellent B&B settled in the country with enough thinge to do that are close at hand to make your head swoon. Frank was a great help and extremely knowledgable of the local sights, sounds, flaura and fauna. Nearby Point Reyes will keep you busy for weeks let alone days. My visit unfortunately was too short to absorb everything.

Roundstone, as stated, is excellent. The room was 1st class and the breakfast teriffic to start the day. Try it, you'll like it!

Room Tip: Just go there and you'll get a good room.
