“Lovely resort with great amenities and helpful, friendly staff.”
Reviewed 9 June 2012

Lovely resort with great amenities and helpful, courteous staff. We stayed in a one bedroom, fireplace suite which had a mountain and valley view. We asked for the upgrade on the valley view and for a $20 fee were upgraded immediately. The suite was very well maintained and exceptionally clean. We would definitely stay there again should we travel to the Tahoe region in the future.

Room Tip: There is no AC so we opened our windows and used a fan. We had a corner room which faced the mounta...

We stayed in a one bedroom suite. The interior is very nice with nicely tiled bathroom and shower. The kitchen has everything you need for a short stay, including microwave, pots and pans, and silverware. The bed was very comfortable. We ate at Sandy's pub, which serves excellent food considering the price and portions. The breakfast was not bad but it did not stand out.

The pool was beautiful, so was the ground. I would not hesitate to come back anytime if I get a good deal. Every staff was very friendly.

I stayed at Squaw Creek for four days as part of a large conference. It cost only $20 to upgrade the room to a valley-view fireplace suite and was well worth it. First, it was a real suite, with separate rooms, not a large room with a bed and a sofa/coffee table as if it were a suite, as is the case in most hotels. The view from the bay window was stunning. The rooms could use refreshing, but were very comfortable and included a full bath, great amenities, and a small kitchen with a good-size fridge and a two-burner cooktop. Hotel staff was friendly and accommodating, never acting like some little request was a big burden. I have participated in and chaired numerous large conferences. We found the hospitality staff incredibly accommodating and friendly - probably the best that my group could remember. Food choices were good, properly cooked (very difficult to do for large groups) and there was ample space in the meeting and banquet rooms. I would recommend this hotel for any business meeting and will return to stay as a regular (non-business-meeting) guest.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the valley, whether suites or not, are recommended. Those even- numbered from 0 to...

Think twicce before staying here. On appearances, it looks like a great resort. The simple fact is that the staff are really not up to 5 star standard. We reported so many problems that the staff failed to deal with. Everything from failing to book resaurants, over charging us, adding things to our bill that we didnt have, being rude, and generally disrespectful.

To add insult to injury, when we checked out the front desk manager removed some items from our bill becuase of the shocking service which he tried to blame on the fact they had a conference on. It was only a few weeks later when I got home and checked my credit card bill did I find they had then charged my card the day after I had left with the items they had agreed to remove from the bill.

The hotel needs to put all its staff through a training programme and teach them that customer service is not something you receive in return for the promise of a large tip - it should be unconditional..............

Room Tip: We were kept awake for several nights by 2 dogs fighting and barking in the next room. It seems owne...

These grounds were absolutely stunning but the place is in the middle of nowhere. That means you are a captive audience for meals. We were on the 9th floor with a view of the parking lot. It would have cost $20 more for a view of the lake. The room was clean but certainly nothing extra special. We really wanted to go to the hot tub, but it was a super long walk and I would have frozen to death afterwards on the walk back to our room. Upon checkout, we found out we had to pay a resort fee of $18 plus the tax on top of that. Cha-ching! It just kept adding up. The next night, we headed to South Lake Tahoe and stayed at a Best Western Timber Cove Lodge for $85 and it was sooo nice. The room was a little smaller but just as nice and with a beautiful view. Also, lots of choices for food. Don't miss the Beach Hut sandwich shop right on the main drag of South Shore. Best sandwich I have ever had!!!!.

I was here for a conference but I was very happy to be able to get to stay here. I had a 1 bedroom suite and it was a treat. The fireplace in the living room was nice and most nights I fell asleep on the couch with it on. The staff was friendly. Food was delectable in the restaurant and in the banquet services which is always a treat because most of the times banquet food is not. I'm a neat freak and inspection of my room when I arrive is a must and I was pleasantly surprised to see it was very clean and comfortable. Staff was great, room service was yummy. Definitely a great plus. After staying at the Village of Squaw and at this one it's a hard toss up but if I had to choose I would probably stay here again next time - and then Village the next!

Room Tip: Get a One Bedroom - worth it!

Thank you for sharing your experience at Resort at Squaw Creek. As you pointed out, having a chairlift steps from the lodging tower is a major bonus for guests throughout the ski season. We hope to see you again next winter.
