“Super Surprise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 February 2014

I generally book chain hotels for my frequent travel but stumbled across this Red Lion, which was not familiar to me. Leather couch, marble kitchen sink, refrig, microwave, big room, big desk, leather office chair, more than enough electrical outlets ... for under $100 ... really??? REALLY!
Great staff, cleaner than clean, quiet ... what else do you need?
Food. The breakfast that is included lacks but you can buy a full breakfast for $5.
Like this place so much we signed an annual contract for the room rate. won't be long this place will be on everyone's radar screen whenin the Ontario area.

The stay didn't start well as the desk clerk got bitc*y with my boss over securing the incidentals with a credit card. The hotel salesperson "wasn't available" but we caught her lying about the availability of the salesperson. Not good. But the entire rest of the conference went off without a hitch.

Been staying here while attending Road 2 California Quilt show for years. The hotel has changed owners in the last year but still offers good service and value. Shuttle service to and from airport is a big plus. Breakfast has been scaled back but still includes eggs.Nice to have Starbucks near since their coffee is lacking. Sadly, happy hour has been canceled. No elevator, so guests must carry suitcases upstairs. Wonderful staff makes up for the minuses

Friends and I were traveling to Ontario for a large quilt show. When I booked this hotel, it was a Magnuson Grand Boutique, but several months before our stay, changed to the Red Lion. Not having stayed before, not sure what to expect, but the hotel is lovely, well appointed, and the staff just couldn't have been nicer. My only "con", if you will, is there is no elevator, which I didn't realize upon booking. I have heard they will be installing one in the near future, which will be a big plus. Having bad knees for stairs, I was delighted to find the hotel very willing to provide strong young men who were happy to haul our suitcases up and down the stairs. I called a month ahead to confirm our reservation, since the hotel had changed hands. Heather at the front desk found we were now short one room (there were 4 of us staying), but quickly booked us an additional one. I told her we would be arriving late since we were flying late from Oregon, and she promised to hold the requested rooms for us, which she did. I also noticed the published rate for this hotel was less than the Magnuson when I booked and she turned me over to her manager Sonja, who was wonderful about adjusting the rate. Beds were super comfy as were pillows. We all slept great! Breakfast was adequate, though the first morning we had a choice of 4 selections, including a lovely omelet, and the other 3 days it was just scrambled eggs and sausage and the usual cereal, breads and such. It all worked out fine, if not a bit repetitive. My friends room had a sink leak upon arrival, which was fixed immediately and one morning we accidentally left the do not disturb sign on and so, no housekeeping, but when we asked the front desk for just some clean towels (at (6:00 at night), they were delivered with a smile quickly. I have not had a lot of experience with Red Lion Hotels, but we all were very pleased with this experience and would recommend it to anyone going to the area.

This is an amazing hotel for the price. The rooms were good sized and extremely clean. The bathroom sink in our double was outside the room with the shower and toilet, so one person could get ready at the sink while the other showered. There was another kitchen-style sink, also with a mirror, in the main room near the mini-fridge, micro-wave and coffeemaker. The room also had a hair dryer, ipod docking station that also charged an iPhone, and great wi-fi throughout. The gym had a basic set of weight machines, one eliptical, one bike, 2 treadmills, and free weights... all in great condition for a small hotel gym. It was too cold to use the pool, but it looked decent. The only disappointment was that the whirlpool wasn't working. The staff was VERY apologetic about that. Also... the TV had a sound governor to make sure it wasn't on too loud. I actually appreciated that feature, but others might not like it.

The staff was extremely helpful. We sat in the lobby one day and they kept asking if we needed a ride anywhere! We asked for 2nd floor rooms to avoid having upstairs neighbors. There's no elevator. One of the front desk workers insisted on carrying our suitcases upstairs for us when we mentioned that they were heavy. He seemed surprised when we tipped him. The continental breakfast was decent, and you could add a hot breakfast for $5. The chef was very friendly, and when he undercooked my friend's eggs, he quickly made a new set with a smile and an apology.

There are at least 4 or 5 restaurants within 2 blocks of the hotel. It took us less than 45 minutes to drive to the Rose Bowl (in Pasadena) for the National BCS Championship game.

At night we heard horns from railroad tracks that are about 2 blocks away. They didn't wake us up, but when we did wake up we could definitely hear them. We also heard a couple of planes early in the morning but there didn't seem to be flights overnight. I usually wear earplugs when I travel, and those kept the train and plane noises from bothering me, but if you are a very light sleeper, they could be an issue.

Room Tip: The desk was very cooperative & helped us select a room away from noisy areas.

Needed a hotel to stay at after a cancelled flight. We booked this hotel given the price and reviews. Since we are flying out early they had a cheaper rate ($15 cheaper) without breakfest. It was 1/2 price for Hampton nearby where I've stayed and rooms are at least as nice. Not sure about pool yet, wasn't important to us for this night. Great room 1 King, leather sofa, great work desk. The Hampton was walking distance to Ontario Mills which could be nice thing also if your choosing between the two.

Staff is really nice. Love the hot breakfast for 5 dolllars. Make sure y tip the cook before y tell him how y want your eggs cooked. You will not regret. Spacious clean rooms. Wet bar , fridge, cofee maker, clean white towels(not the soft kind). We came to stay one night but ended up staying 2 because we were afraid of not finding something this nice for such great price.
