“The best visitor center in Redwood National Park”
Reviewed 18 July 2013

Located a few miles south (west, really) of Orick on U.S. Highway 101, the Kuchel Visitor Center is the most complete facility in the national park. Be sure to ask to see the film on the park if it is not already running. The center is the perfect introduction to the park for those coming from the south, but is even worth a stop for those who have already driven south through the park. Get advice on road and trail conditions and permits for the Tall Trees Access Road. The beach setting gives visitors a different view of the park.

“Excellent service.”
Reviewed 4 June 2013

Rangers and support staff very friendly and professional. Perhaps the most impressive, friendliest national park visitor center staff I have ever encountered.

“Park rangers were great”
Reviewed 1 October 2012

If you don't know exactly what trail you want to hike, stop and talk to the park rangers on the way into the redwood forests. We had really no idea where to go and after talking to one of the rangers for 5 minutes, we had a planned 10 mile hike and 2 maps with awesome directions. She was extremely helpful and picked the perfect trail for us.

“Smaller visitor center”
Reviewed 12 September 2012

This center is not nearly as big as some park centers but it had helpful staff and a great display explaining the geology and layout of Redwood Creek.
