We went to La Dolce Vita for Valentine's Day. I'm a bit reluctant to review based on the dinner as it was a limited menu, of which virtually none of the dishes is on their regular menu. LDV is a charming restaurant in a restored old house in the Heritage Square section of Oxnard-an oasis in the downtown area.
The service was fine, although the meals are brought out by servers other than our waitress and they had no idea of who ordered which dishes-kind of a no-no in an upscale restaurant. I had the short ribs and my wife had the stuffed rigatoni as our entrees and we were both very satisfied with the food. The house is cute, but the furnishings and decor are underwhelming-maybe contributing to the very fair price of the meal. The owner and her sister were both very nice to talk to and extremely attentive. We will be going back to sample the regular menu soon.
