“Mainstay in Oxnard”
Reviewed 6 December 2013 via mobile

I travel to Oxnard once or twice a year
I try to stop by when I am in town. The clay pot Moqueca fish stew with the side dish of Pequin pepper oil is fantastic. Good service. A little pricey.

“A Delicious Surprise”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

We moved to the Channel Island area this summer and have been searching for good quality restaurants since we arrived. After passing Moqueca many time as we drove past the harbor, we finally went to Moqueca with family on a whim as it is 5 minutes from our house. What a great surprise. When we heard that it was Brazilian food, we thought it would be another of the all you can eat rodizio types, but boy were we wrong. It is a really nice traditional Brazilian restaurant in a really pretty setting overlooking the harbor.

The food is deliciously prepared, and the men is loaded with great seafood options. The drinks are creative and I love their santagria. The service is very friendly and I suggest that you reserve a table by the window to make the experience even better. This is the best local place we have found!

“Large portions”
Reviewed 30 October 2013 credit card Amex Cardmember Review

Service was good and the signature fish dish, the fish Moqueca, was excellent. My only complaint was that it is advertised as a dish for two people. We struggled to get near to finishing it. Unless you are a very big eater, it could easily stretch to 4. We did see some locals share one between 4 later in the evening. It would be good to have the option of a smaller portion at a lower price.

I had lunch there with friends. All of us were happy with our entrees. Quick friendly service and quiet so we could talk.

“A great surprise”
Reviewed 4 October 2013

I stumbled onto this place while on a family trip to Oxnard. It is great! I was expecting the usual Brazilian meat palace. Instead, it was far better with more subtle dishes. Lots of great spices with boiling foods served in clay pots. the classic Brazilian drinks, nice music, good service. Well worth a trip.
