“perfect way to spend our 20th anniversary”
Reviewed 19 May 2011

we had looked at this B&B and said "someday, on a very special occaison we will stay here!" 20 yrs later, we celebrated our 20th anniv, and immediately thought of this beautiful inn. Inside and out- right next to the bay at lovers point sits the most special of places.... a big beautiful yellow and white victorian filled with gables, nooks, gardens and spectacular views. we were treated well....... lovely hosts, wonderful cookies set out at night, and cheese/wine in afternoons in the glorious lounge. guests chatted easily- it was easy because we were all so relaxed. Met some wonderful folks- guests and staff alike. Food was wonderful- Laurie the chef was out snipping herbs and tiny flowers for her meals and visited with us, sharing her idea's and asking opinions. Michael a host was warm and funny. We stayed in the china point room- just the perfect size and a view from 3 bay windows....... warm comfy bed, clean clean clean everywhere you looked. antiques were fabulous, chairs comfty......... a short walk up to town, or down to the point. gulls at night lulled us to sleep with the waves in the background. Please DO go sometime, for something special. it truly is a magical place.

Ok, so this isn't the cheapest place to stay in this area but this Inn is AMAZING! I booked the Inn because of its' sea location and charm and it lived up and more to our expectations and spoilt us for other hotels and b&b's on our trip. The staff were so helpful and attentive without being intrusive. Our room had an amazing view of Lovers Point but all rooms have a sea view, and they thoughtfully supply binoculors to watch birds, or the odd dolphin. Our room was old charm but the plumbing was bang up to date! Very comfy bed & I slept like a baby. The room was spotless! Breakfasts were varied each day with a speciality but there was always eggs, bread, fruit, granola, youghurt, juices. Wine & cheese are served between 4-6pm and milk and cookies at 9pm. The staff refused a tip at the end of our stay which is a welcome sight on a dark night in the USA. They seemed genuinely pleased to have us and interested in what we'd been up to that day. Limited parking at the Inn but immediate free parking outside street parking

We only had one night here which was a big mistake 'cos it was fabulous. We had the garden room which has its own entrance quite close to the main house but it was quiet and beautifully presented. The afternoon wine and nibbles were lovely too - showcasing the area's vineyards and breakfast was equally good.

You can sit at breakfast and watch seals and sea otters frolic just across the road. Everyone was very helpful and you got the impression they liked working there. The French rstaurant up the hill was excellent - real French butter in the US - what a treat!!

You're brilliantly located for 17 mile drive which is a wonderful coastal loop and you can take a break at the far end and visit Carmel - you of my favourite towns in California, even if Clint Eastwood isn't the mayor any more.

We couldn't squeeze into the small car park but there was ample roadside parking and we were able to park right across from our room. The fact that there were no TVs in the room was a bonus as far as we were concerned as it maintained that peaceful ambiance and stopped other guests being disturbed by the noise.

Seven Gables is a classy B&B and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Outstanding B&B. Exceptionally clean with friendly and helpful staff. Spectacular view. Nice opportunity to visit with other guests over breakfast and/or during afternoon wine and cheese gathering. Limited parking on site, but plenty of convenient parking on street. Can't wait to return.

second stay at Seven Gables, loved it! Great location to walk to the aquarium, Lovers Point, Pt Pinos lighthouse, as well as to walk to Pacific Grove restaurants. Wonderful breakfast, as well as afternoon wine and cheese. Staff provided excellent customer service. Would stay there again, won't even look at other places in the area!

We spent the weekend for my 50th birthday and it was great. The room was clean and comfortable. The view as always is awesome. Be sure to be there for the afternoon wine and cheese. The evening fresh baked cookies were good too. We got back the first night after the cookie time ended but one of the employees saw us coming in and said to go ahead and grab some cookies. The breakfast both days was also very good. We will be back.

This is a wonderful inn that enjoys a spectacular location. Most rooms have breathtaking views of the water. We stayed in the Fairmont room one night then moved to the Gables room which is the converted attic. You must stay there!! the sunrise from that room was awesome. One note: there are no TVs in the rooms. We did not realize that and do like our morning news shows and late night ESPN but it was not a big deal overall. Go hiking at Point Lobos state park. OMG!!! The views! It was the best hiking we have ever done.
