We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary here for 2 nights. The staff were so accommodating. Consideration for handicap visitors was excellent. The breakfasts were wonderful as we choose to join a table for four and visited with a couple from Florida. Evenings were delightful as we joined everyone for the 4-6pm gathering. We visited with many guests from different walks of life. Enjoyed their stories. It was just a great experience for us.

This was our fourth visit to the Seven Gables Inn. It is always a refreshing retreat from the real world. We stayed in the Bellevue room and the Victoria room. Both have wonderful views of the ocean and gardens. we park our car and walk everywhere. The restaurants are close, the ocean view path goes to the ocean, and the library and Natural history museum are two blocks away. There is even a great farmer's market on Monday evenings. Stay here for a fantastic experience.

Room Tip: Talk to the staff and look at the website pictures for your choice

We recently stayed at the Seven Gables for one night. The staff was very friendly and our room was nicely appointed. Each room is touted to have a great view of Monterey Bay. That is true to a certain extent, as the inn fronts a somewhat busy street and parked cars. Overall, we had a nice experience, but I do not feel that, even though we received a "discounted" rate, the price was justified.

This property is beautifully kept, outstandingly staffed and the food was increadible. The bed was soooooo comfortable. I would recommend a stay to all of my friends. I can't wait to stay there again.

Room Tip: Stay in the beach house for best views. Stay in the main house if you like the nastalgia of a bygone era.

We rented the "Sea View Cottage" room which is a 2 bedroom suite with reduced rate if you only use one of the bedrooms. The room was large and had 2 fireplaces that kept it romantic and warm on chilly seaside nights. The bed was large and comfortable and the bathroom was cavernous. An added bonus for this room is a private courtyard off the main bedroom complete with a fountain and a pretty flower garden. The service at the hotel was friendly and relaxed. We particularly enjoyed the afternoon wine and cheese service hosted by Rosita.

The are two reasons why I wouldn't rate our experience truly 5 stars. Firstly the room is spectacular but the sea view is obstructed by another building on the property. This blocks a true view of the sea from anywhere in the cottage except for the front entrance. Other rooms in the inn have perfect unobstructed views of the coast as the inn is right on the water. So if a sea view from your sitting room is high on your priority list I wouldn't pay extra for the sea (obstructed) view cottage. The second reason why we rated it 4 not 5 stars is because of the breakfast. The selection was limited and it felt like it was an "institutional" preparation that didn't fit with the small, intimate B&B feeling of the hotel. A little more gourmet attention to detail and personal choices would have made breakfast more of a highlight for us.

The location of the hotel is perfect and I think it is better situated to walk to some of the good restaurants in downtown Pacific Grove than other inns.

Enjoy!
