A well preserved lighthouse with informative and patient docents. A small lighthouse but the kids and I spent 40 minutes viewing the exhibits. The docents were very patient answering all the questions raised by the children and demonstrating the various fog alerts.

It's not a bad place to stop but if you miss it don't fret. It is an educational experience with some neat history. I admire the volunteers that contribute to the upkeep and opening of the lighthouse. I spent about 15 minutes and donated the small fee. It was a nice change up but the thrills don't last very long and you naturally move on quickly. If it's convenient for you to stop, it's worth it but I don't know if I will go out of my way for this attraction more than once. I was hoping for a lighthouse picture with the ocean background but the placement of the lighthouse didn't make it possible. Pleasant little stop but next...

A great job of restoration for a functional lighthouse. Very interesting to visit as they provide a glimpse of what life would be like at the lighthouse over the years. The docents are very informative and can provide information on similar lighthouses up and down the CA coastline. Pt. Pinos was much more accessible than Pt. Bonita in Marin County which has even more limited hours and is harder to reach. Well worth an hour or so after a walk along Asilomar Beach. There is a small parking lot on the site which was not crowded on a weekday. Limited hours so plan beforehand. Great experience for a $2 donation.
