“A cosy hotel a walk away from Monterey, CA”
Reviewed 19 October 2012

The Lodge was a little pricey, but we had a wonderful room with a jacuzzi. The Lodge is situated in Pacific Grove, just a couple of miles of wonderful cliffs away from Monterey. In fact, we decided to book this hotel because its fares were more affordable than in the city, even though its location, we thought, wasn't that great. In the end, we actually enjoyed not being right in the center of town. You can walk along the coast from the hotel to downtown Monterey and it's a beautiful 45-minute walk (or bike ride, if you want to rent a bicycle). The hotel in itself is nice, with little cottage-like semi-detached units, so no noises above your head. The rooms were clean, and we even enjoyed muffins and breakfast drinks at the reception area in the morning.

Room Tip: I think only some rooms have a jacuzzi, so ask for one if you want it.

Called them up for last minute reservations. We were able to get a two room cottage which was great for a family of five. The cottage was very clean and offered us everything we needed. Very comfortable beds. Plenty of towels. Continental breakfast was wonderful. Our second visit with these guys and will stay again.

Very cute, well appointed room. We found the area near to everything but out of the heaviest traffic areas which was great for sleeping and deer watching! Short walk to the Butterfly sanctuary. We come up here often and will definitely stay at the Sea Breeze again!!

very clean and a delicious Asian restaurant nearby. The room is vintage style, the bed is comfortable. There is a gas bonfire in the yard, very nice place. The lodge offers the tea\ coffee and muffins for breakfast.

Room Tip: you can get a good price , if you book the room 14 days in advance. "early bird"

It's unfortunate that this motel has a low star rating. Everything was SUPER clean, the service was very helpful, I think the only reason it has such a low rating is because it is a motel. The only room they had left for us was a pet optional room, and there was not a dander in the whole room (my nose would have known). The bathrooms were remodeled beautifully, and each room has a mini-fridge and microwave. There was no DVD player however, but they did have complimentary cable, phone, and wifi. They also offer a discounted rate on Aquarium tickets, plus you can go a second day free.

You will run into Raccoons, so if you're scared, don't go out at night. They are adorable I think, and pretty docile if you don't threaten them. One just came right up to my husband, begging like a dog! We heard they have deer too!

Pacific Grove is such an adorable town, you just take a step into the past as soon as you arrive. It's definitely more affordable than staying in neighboring Monterey or Carmel. There are many great eats, like First Awakening and Fandango's, both recommended by motel staff. The first is a breakfast lunch joint where EVERYTHING is prepared both creatively and perfectly. The second is an up-scale dinner joint--soo good you force yourself to have a four-course meal. We also ate at Passionfish, which wasn't our style. They stack the tables one on top of the other, SF cafe style, its too loud to hear your mate, and probably a little too "stiff" for some.

You must see Garrapata Beach, it's secluded and romantic, with at least one "couple size" cave!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Lodge, which is across the street from the main office, but on the pool/spa side. W...

The hotel was in a pretty decent location. Just minutes from downtown and a couple of blocks from the beach. The room was clean. We had a problem with the drain in the shower but they fixed it right away. Also there is not a/c in the rooms. They were able to bring a fan for us and that helped out a lot! The breakfast isnt very much. Just muffins and juice or coffee. The only issue we had was with the bedding. The pillows where very flat and useless and the bed was like a trampoline. I have never felt such a bouncy bed in my life, lol. It almost felt like a board with springs under it. Other than the bed the hotel was ok for the price and the room was decorated pretty nicely.

I stayed there for MotoGP weekend. what a nice little motel, the staff was very friendly. All in all a great stay! It was out of the hustle and bustle of Monterey yet convenient to everything! I would recommend anyone staying on the penisula go to the Sea Breeze Lodge.
