“Quiet and Quaint near 17 mile drive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 September 2013

Pine Acres Lodge is a comfortable and affordable timeshare vacation rental that also often has rooms for rent at very reasonable prices considering the location on the Pacific Grove, CA side of the 17 mile drive. It is wonderful to have a kitchen in that area where you can be out and about all day, or take a day of rest among the cypress trees. Pacific Grove is a charming town to explore in addition to the traditional Carmel and Monterey California destinations. There are antiques and organics in quaint stores just a block or two from Cannery Row.

We stayed 7 nights on a timeshare exchange through Interval International which always creates unbeatable value. Location was close to Monterey Bay and Asilomar State Beach on foot. We drove 17-Mile Drive and loved the quaint town of Pacific Grove next to Carmel, Pebble Beach and Monterey. Can't beat the close proximity to the spectacular Big Sur Coast. A few things I didn't particularly like, being a business person, was that I needed to print and fax a document from my email and thought their policy of not allowing owners or guests use of a computer was not guest friendly. I also would have liked a coffee table in the living room but we adapted to having no place to put a cup of tea or glass of wine while sitting on the couch. The mid-week linen change was nothing more than a housekeeper knocking on the door to hand me a stack of towels, then leaving even though I offered to let her come into our room. Other than these few details, we loved this lodge and are planning a summer stay here. If you like quaint cottage that's clean, you'll love this place. If you like 5-Star hotels with maid service and you're willing to pay the price, stay at Spanish Bay Inn or the Lodge at Pebble Beach. As for us, we enjoy eating in our own kitchen and having the privacy that we found at Pine Acres Lodge.

I am so glad I found this little gem. We were needing a place with a kitchen and fireplace for a girls getaway weekend for my bride-to-be best friend. This place was perfect! We stayed in the Villa which fit 4 girls very well. The huge wraparound couch and large den area was perfect for us. Also the full kitchen was supplied with everything. The location was great for walks into town and even to the beach. I will definitely come back to this location in the future.

Room Tip: The Villa was a perfect size. Only down side was it is right next to the laundry room so there was s...

We stayed in the two bedroom townhouse and totally loved it. We spent the first 4 days as a 20 th Anniversary getaway then the remainder of the week with our two children. We loved it. Nice quiet timeshare perfect location. We can not wait to come back.Pacifice Grove is very laid back and peaceful a bit away from the crowds and tourist stuff but close enough to go enjoy that as well. Great restaurants nearby

Room Tip: partial ocean view upstairs nice breeze and fireplace

We stayed here, in a cottage, as a timeshare exchange and enjoyed it. The cottage had a kitchen small living room and average sized bedroom and bathroom. Was very quiet in the complex and in the area, and we enjoyed the outdoor hot tub. The front desk has dvd movies for $1 per day. The complex is walking distance of Asilomar State Beach area, so we enjoyed taking a morning walk there each day. It was easy to visit Downtown Pacific Grove, as well as Monterey and Carmel from this location. While the unit was somewhat badic, it provided everything we needed and we would stay here again when in the area.

The prior review was very thorough and accurate. My room was a one bedroom with a small but nice living room and a tiny kitchen. My only further comments would be that the internet in room 2 was fine and the beach although close by might be closer to ten minutes be foot. The neighborhood location is pretty residential and quiet. I found the experience here above average although not necessarily a luxury property.

This is partly a timeshare and partly a normal rental hotel. However, there is no office staff after hours. I stayed in a studio with a Murphy bed. This is actually a fairly spacious studio and the selection of a Murphy bed strikes me as silly – it stick further into the room than a regular bed would and there is no furniture to move into the space it occupies if you put it up. Obviously, I just left it down – and there was plenty of room to get around it. There are two nice easy chairs, an ottoman, and side table on one end of the room, looking at a tv. On the other end is a kitchenette and dining table.

There are two story units (the two bedroom units) and one stories. I believe a total of 13 units. There is a small spa with a deck and picnic table and a barbecue area, again with a picnic table. There is a pay laundry by the spa – good for folks with little kids. The grounds are well maintained and the unit was spotless when I checked in. I arrived after hours and found a package with my key as well as a map (which might seem superfluous for such a small place, but since units are numbered in no perceptible order (unit 3 is next to 10, for example), this was a very good thing!

I checked into the office the next day and had to give my credit card and fill out paperwork. They have maps of the area and a booklet of menus, but you have to ask. They also sell a two day ticket to the Monterey Aquarium – for the price of one day. This is not available at the aquarium, and it does not start the day count until you get to the aquarium so it is a very good deal. I rather doubt that most adults would need to go there more than once but there are really wonderful exhibits and hands on activities for kids, in which case it would be quite worthwhile. And the ticket for a one day visit costs $30!

The kitchen in the studio is small but functional for breakfast, lunch, and reheating activities. There are two electric burners, a microwave, coffee pot (with starter coffee), paper towels, a dishwashers, and the usual soap, etc. also a butcher block table which helps for counter space. And of course, dinner ware and silver.

The tv is connected to a VCR/DVD player – a nice luxury as nowadays one doesn’t quite know which to bring. Plenty of drawer space and closet space. The bathroom has only a shower but decent counter space and a medicine cabinet for storing extras. Hand soap was plentiful but no shampoo or lotion. There is a hairdryer. There is wireless internet included in the rates, but it is rather weak. It only worked on one side of the room.

All in all, this is a decent, Travelodge style hotel room, with a kitchenette added on. More than you need for a trip to Monterey, because you don’t come here to spend time in your room! There are multiple restaurants in the area, the beach within a few minutes walk, and all the attractions of Monterey and Carmel. At this time of year, the elephant seals are calving on the beach in Pescadero and there is wonderful wildlife viewing – along with the scenery of Big Sur.

This facility was virtually deserted after New Year’s day, so it could have good rental rates if you are traveling early in the year. If you do rent here, be sure to take a google map and a gps with you - it is not at all easy to find your way around Pacific Grove, especially in the dark.
