“A very underated spot”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 February 2012

With so many typical restaurants serving just about the same fare, Julia's offers up healthy, vegertarian food. It's really amazing how difficult it is to find this cuisine amid all the stuff thats growing in our valleys here in California. The staff went over backwards to make a good dining experience. The owner made sure of this. Hope he remembers us from Cloverdale...I said I would write a good review.

“WOW”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2011

WOW! What a wonderful place. The waiter was so friendly and welcoming, the food was beautiful. (Recommend the Apple Pie) The only downside was it was a bit pricy, but defo worthy of it. The waiter was happy to explain to you what was in the food, (like how to make pastry without eggs and milk ect) and was just a cheerful guy. If in the area, a must go

“Worth trying-Happy that Monterey has a good vegan option!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 January 2011

We went to Julia's twice on a Saturday and a Sunday. Their bread and spread ( a mix of sundried tomatoes, hummus, and pesto) is simply delicious. because theri bread is a highlight, i recommend ordering their pizza if it's available. The meal starts with a serving of bread followed by a good sized portion of salad. Now we ordered two entrees our first night-the mushroon risotto was very good but i wouldhave to say that the butternut squash ravioli could have been better. We were so stuffed though that we did not get to try the dessert which was an aple galette (major regrets on that one). The next night, we decided to try their family night special. Wow, what a value! $12.50/person gets you more of that addictive yummy bread, a salad, and a generous portion of vegan paella AND a dessert, which in our case of a poached pear with a red wine reduction -yummy. What a deal! The place was packed so we were glad we got there before 6pm. In terms of service, the waiter was very friendly, but as he is the only waiter, was a bit busy. Nonethless, i feel this place has a lotf heart and feel very good about supporting this place. Monterey and Carmel, to my surprise, have very little in term sof vegan options-this place is a much welcomed oasis.
