Wow what a great place to enjoy a few days. The Lighthouse Lodges were lovely. Very Clean and Spacious. We had two adults and three children (6, 5 and 3) staying in one room and it was comfortable for a two night stay. Kids absolutely loved the spa bath and the space that they had outside the lodge to scooter and bike. The free breakfast was superb with a lovely buffet selection and also a nice choice of something hot off the menu - something for everyone. As an added extra the lodges throw in a wine and nibbles event from 4pm-6pm. We went along expecting a few crisps, but they actually put on a lovely cold buffet of bread and cheese, crudites and dip, cookies etc. We actually managed to give the kids dinner in there which was a bonus!
The swimming pool was a little disappointing as it was dirty and very cold, but to be honest it wasn't really the weather for swimming so it didn't really bother us too much. There was a breakfast room next to the swimming pool which apparently gets absolutely packed in the morning, so if you can walk across the other side of the road to where the bigger room is and enjoy a relaxed breakfast in there.

Room Tip: Rooms on the over the road from the check in desk are the best.

We stayed in a cottage room in July 2013 and had a great experience. The room was clean and well maintained. The complemenary breakfast was fantastic as was the afternoon social including wine and appetizers.

As we looked out the sliding door in the morning we saw deer walking past our room, what a treat!

Room Tip: Cottage suites are nice and peaceful

We stayed at this facility on August 25-26, 2013.I usually like to start with the positive so I will say this area of California is beautiful. As for the lodging we can start with bugs on my bed, the room smelled like it had been locked and uninhabited for months and had not been cleaned since that time. Bathroom was dirty, had old discolored broken tiles and the ceiling showed signs of shoddy workmanship to repair a leak. The linens were worn and the mattress and pillows were lumpy. The breakfast was either over cooked or a day old. There were chairs on an outside patio to relax at the end of the day but our view was not of the Pacific Ocean but instead an ocean of headstones in the cemetery adjacent to the property. All these features for over $200 a day. I will never stay there again and would certainly not recommend it.

Our family went here every year for the past five years, but NO MORE! This hotel has never been clean, but the ownership is clearly cutting back on what little amenities they did have to make up for that. They have a breakfast, but they used to include a poolside BBQ dinner- even though the website we reserved our room through said they still had that, when we got there they had nixed it, and said it's not their job to make sure reservation website have accurate info. We were counting on that as one of our meals for each of the 4 days we were there (there were six of us) and were not prepared to make that up out of pocket. Did they comp us? NO! The carpets can only be described as "gummy", and they CLEARLY don't was the covers ever. Our curtains had snot and blood on the backside of the blackout curtain- SWEET.... The pool was cloudy, ands both the pool and jacuzzi had leaves in them- I had to clean them myself. Never ever going there again. Hopefully they will lose enough business that they have to sell to new owners who take cleanliness seriously.

The lady at the front desk on arrival was friendly and welcoming. We had 2 rooms booked with a rollaway for each. When we got into our rooms we discovered they overlooked the cemetery, we asked to change and she was very happy to arrange this for us. The rooms are tired and very worn, although clean. The curtains were ripped and the blackout curtains had so many holes in that they no longer work as blackout! The beds were very uncomfortable, I kept rolling into the middle of the bed during the night. The rollaways had plastic covers on the mattresses and were also incredibly uncomfortable. The rooms were dark, phones didn't work and the walls are paper thin.
Breakfast was awful, very basic, tables left dirty, only 1 cereal, scrambled eggs and roast potatoes. The bananas were over ripe and brown. I have a particular hatred of disposables for meals and so this added insult to injury.
I would not stay there again.

Very limited TV. No in room movies. No in room telephones. All three phones were dead. Tried to watch a movie and none were available.. The front desk said they had just upgraded the tv.. Sorry was the response from the front desk.

I stayed here for three nights for the local Monterey Car Week and first off it was busy due to this major event but considering the "crowd" it was VERY quiet!! Now getting to the location was a tiny bit confusing since there are two different locations but one is just the cottages and the other is the actual lodge. Once I got to the right place checking in was a breeze! The staff was VERY friendly and quick. There is free wifi which is great since there isn't much signal since we are close to the ocean. Also there is a golf course nearby for people who want to play during your stay.
The room was on the bottom floor but it still felt very safe and quiet. First impressions of the room seemed a tiny bit dated and the fan for the bathroom seemed to be on its last leg but the room was a great size with a small desk, microwave, good size TV and a fridge. What was a surprise was I had a balcony/patio area with two seats and a table. It was completely open and even though the view was of a cemetery it still was a nice view. Also within the first 20 mins of sitting outside two deer walked by. The room above us was a little loud but it was only during the day. The beds were just OK but I slept just fine with no problems. Also the moments when its quiet you can hear the ocean in the distance.
The breakfast area was a great size next to the pool so there was a nice view while you eat. Food wise was many choices with someone always there (who was friendly) to refill everything throughout the time.
The Lighthouse Lodge & Cottages is a great place to stay if you don't need or don't want to be around the local tourist areas. I will keep this place in mind next time I am planning a trip to the area again
