“Good espresso drinks, great croissants, good service”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

The cappuccino we had was tasty, and the almond croissants were very delicious. The service was good even though it was very crowded the time and day we went. Overall, this would be a place to get some sweets again when we're back in Pacific Grove.

“Yummiest”
Reviewed 27 May 2014 via mobile

We live around the corner and eat here often. All of the desserts are top notch, moist and not over the top sweet. The coffee is French if you like that dark roast almost burnt taste. They have the best veggie crepes ever! There is also a beautiful view of the water on a clear day, love the indoor garden ambience!

“Mouth Watering Pastries and Soups”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

Everytime we have been in this area, we visit Patisserie Bechler. The pastries are pure French--light, tasty, and flavorful. We ordered pastries and take away soups--potato, clam chowder, and carrot. We were astounded by the quality and tastes of them.

In my opinion, Patisserie Bechler is the best bakery in the Monterey Peninsula and one of the best in the United States.

“Dashed Expectations”
Reviewed 17 January 2014

"Fine French Pastry" is their harkening sign which brought us in. We looked at the case of pastries, and while we were skeptical after viewing, we decided to sit down and try their luncheon offering which got rave reviews. We sampled their onion quiche and chicken crepe, both with side salads which were underdressed and contained some past acceptable as serving greens. We have spent some time in Alsace France, the chef's claimed culinary pedigree. Did the chef just pass through the area to get his credential? The onion quiche which the waitperson touted as "the best" seemed to be an emersion blended particle mixture of eggs, caramelized onions and milk baked in a soggy "cardboard crust." The chicken in the THICK crepe was grilled to over cooked doneness and the béchamel sauce was thick enough to stand a spoon straight up in. Silly diners that we are, hoping for something better, we tried chef's jam filled cookies (a hint of butter?) and a meringue - and our disappointment was complete. Maybe we didn't try the "incredible pastries" others seem to love or maybe chef had an "off day" or ran out of luscious authentic to the region ingredients, but we are two diners who will not be back to test out any theories. (PS: The unisex bathroom OUTSIDE, IN THE BACK of the patisserie was among the DIRTIEST we've ever experienced!!!)

“Incredible pastries and fine breakfasts”
Reviewed 9 October 2013

A bit away from the normal visitor locations, but worth the trip. Everything in the bakery is amazing, and the relaxed breakfast area is an undiscovered favorite. Great coffee!
