“Awesome family orientanted spot in the desert”
Reviewed 18 June 2011

Perfect! We rented a 2 bedroom unit and the condo was lovely and large. Pools were perfect. Splash area for the kids, beach entry complete with sand and at another pool near by there was a waterside that they allowed parents to go down with their little ones! Perfect place for our 2 year olds! Also worth mentioning...the staff was terrific! Everyone was more then friendly their follow up was great! We called for a high chair the brought it to the room and then called to make sure it had been delivered and was to our liking. Lastly, we brought a small copler with drinks and food to the pool each day and it was totally acceptable! There is a pool side bar and grill if you prefer that option but there isn't any pressure to hide outside food and beverage....a big plus for us! Really great staff + fun family pool atmosphere = a wonderful family vacation. We will be back!

The Enclaves were everything you would want in a vacation resort. Very nicely decorated rooms, plenty of room in our 2 bedroom suite, excellent pool, fairly quite and secluded, Wonderful golf course at Shawdow Ridge and beautifully maintained grounds. This would have been a 5 rating if not for all of the troubles with the house keeping staff. There seems to be confusion over nightly rental guest and Marriott Vacation Club guests. Nightly rentals get daily tidy service, Vacation club do not. The Housekeeping stafff must have been confused on who is in what rooms. We were Nightly rentals staying for 6 nights and each of those 6 days we were at the resort, we only got tidy service for 3 of the days. Each afternoon I had to call to inform them that our room was not made up only to be told they would be on their way. Half of the days, they did not show. This led to making follow up calls requesting towels and further complaining. All the staff that we spoke to was very friendly and wanted to help, but the house keepers just would not show up. This was the only frustration that we had the entire trip and if it occured on one day and was resolved we would be more understanding and would have overlooked. But this occurred every day up to having to call at 5PM on the night before we checked out. In my mind, if we stayed another week, i would still be calling for service. We are not complainers but this was too much.

Ending this on a positive note, the property is all that you could want in a vacation resort. The multiple pools provided a wide range of options and choices based on what you were looking for from kids slides to quite pool. Many things for the family to do (basketball, volleyball etc...) and the grill areas where a nice touch.

Room Tip: second floor floor facing the pool.

Shadow Ridge is a very nice, well maintained resort. The pool area was very nice with a play area for small children. We never had a problem getting a chair in the sun or the shade.

We went to Palm Springs mainly to golf and were close to the courses we played during the week. We did not play the course at the resort (seemed pricey compared to many of the other great courses in ther area).

The room we had was extremely small, it was just a guest room. We had no balcony with our room. The room was clean and the staff at the front desk and the pool bar were friendly and helpful.

In summary, if you don't need a lot of space this is a great resort.

We just returned from a weeks stay at Shadow Ridge. We were in the 4300 section of The Enclaves. It was incredible!
We travelled with 2 young children and it was so family friendly. All Enclaves units overlook the pool. Pool had a sand beach and water splash area.
Units were immaculate. Cleaned daily (fresh towels daily too....).
We spent most of our days at the other pool with the waterslide and kids activity centre and last week was super hot (104 degrees).
The staff was great and helped out with restaurant suggestions.
Would totally go back!!!

Room Tip: ask for The Enclave Section- its the new area

I have been to many time share resorts but will never go back to this one.
Our room on the first floor was infested with desert cockroaches.
There is no maid service unless you want to pay for that.
Fresh towels are never brought to your room unless you ask.
It is your job to remove your trash to dumpster.
Pool lounge chairs are basic plastic and cheap.
Newest section the Enclaves II seemed kind of dumpy and dreary to me.
No waiter service around pool. You must go up to bar at pool to get service.
The positives I can say is Golf was nice and prices were better than other golf destinations we have been to.
Main fitness center was nice.

We absolutely LOVE the Enclaves. We love the "regular section" too, but the Enclaves are incredible. We were there in August....it was 500 degrees. The rooms are stunning, the pools are beautiful, and the kid's activity center is top-notch. We especially loved the food and drinks at the pools...a bit pricey but tasted GREAT so we were okay with pricey.
There are lots of fun kid-approved things to do close by like the Living Desert and Soak City Water Park. Also, great dining, fine and fast, nearby too. Our favorite local fast food was Pollo Loco; we don't have that in Delaware. There is a really fun street fair on I think Thursday nights....lots of neat things to eat and buy. We have been there twice in three years and are planning to go back this summer too. LOVE Marriott's Shadow Ridge II- The Enclaves!!!!

Room Tip: All rooms are beautiful but NEVER ready on time.

Room: My family of 4 stayed here for a family reunion over X-mas break (see my review of Shadow Ridge Villas). Our guest room was very, very small - too small for a family of 4. We had a King sized bed and a sofabed. Since all we did was sleep - it wasn't such a big problem. The microwave, fridge and sink is a nice convenient touch. We had requested "foam" pillows when we booked but they were not in our rooms, only some super soft pillows that disturbed our sleep. After reminding them of our pillows, they were sent right away.

Pool: the pool at the enclaves is refreshing. It wasn't very crowded and there were plenty of cabanas to go around during our stay. There were 2 hot tubs, one on the warm bath side and the other that was too hot. The pool was a bit cooler than I would have liked - there was a non-heated pool which no one went into! There were plenty of dry towels to trade in for wet ones. This pool is appropriate for the very young since it has a sand area and a gradual slope you can walk into the pool. The area was very clean. One night, around 10pm, some teenagers were yelling and screaming at the top of their lungs in the pool area. A security officer was sent but it took awhile.

The grounds: The whole shadow ridge grounds is immaculate. The plants are beautiful and appropriate for the desert environment. I don't golf but it looked well taken care of. My only complaint is that it should have walking/jogging trails that is not on the golf course. I have heard that golfers don't like walker/joggers to use "their" golf cart trails since they pay so much for the golfing priviledges. There were plenty of people walking and jogging - on the street - that the complex should really look into appropriate multi-use trails for biking, walking, and jogging.

Facilities: There is a common area where a Wii, pool table and ping-pong table were set up for play. The Wii is free and so is the ping-pong. The pool game was inexpensive. There were also lots of board games, crafts, ball and golf club rent outs (free). This was a nice place to hang out in time of rain (which it did when we were here). We enjoyed this game room but opted to swim during most of our stay - despite the rain.
