We visited the Living Desert on a lovely spring day--perfect weather-not too hot, not too cool. In fact, a tip for future visitors would be to arrive as soon as they open, while the animals are still active. Otherwise it gets too warm and they all just nap or hide in their cool burrows and caves. Plan for a lot of walking; this place is pretty big. They do offer all day tram passes for $3-5/day, but you can easily walk the entire zoo (little ones may get tired, so bring your stroller). Another tip: Bring bottled water, and maybe a snack, so little ones can make it through the entire park before needing something to eat and drink--food there is expensive. It was super neat to see desert animals not indigenous to this country. They have giraffe feeding from 10-1o:30 am. The new addition, a jaguar, is amazing. My favorite animal had to be the meercats--so cute and very active. Everything at this place is geared towards encouraging conservation. When in Palm Desert, this is a great place to visit, particularly for families.
