“Always a nice time; I go every year”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

I always go once a year, just to see the big cats!! I never spot the cheetahs, and rarely get to see the lions (they're always hiding), but I always see the giraffes which are awesome! The butterfly sanctuary is really cool and I love the garden shop.

“what a great place”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

we just loved this hidden little jewel in the desert! lots of plants, animals and friendly folks.....a must see.
not the best place for little children as there are no rides and more open spaces with plant life than animal life.

“Dramatic combination of zoo and gardens”
Reviewed 13 June 2014 via mobile

This is probably my favorite zoo ever. I just loved how they gave equal attention to the vegetation and animal habitats. It had a more immersive feel, as if everything made more sense. It was a beautiful walk around the grounds with lush and beautiful oasis gardens and sculptures between each animal exhibit. I wish I had more time to linger and enjoy the effort they put in to creating a wonderful environment. Note that it closes early during the summer. That was my mistake. Didn't know that.

“Fun for the whole family-seniors too”
Reviewed 12 June 2014

We love the tram tours. Get on and off wherever you like so there's minimal walking if you have trouble getting around. Lots of special events through the year too like the butterfly exhibit that I love. They have a lot of new babies of all kinds so its very exciting for the kids (of all ages).

“Just the right size outing”
Reviewed 7 June 2014

Now that global warming and drought are official, this is a good place to get ideas on xeriscape landscaping. And they even have a nursery on the grounds where you can buy many of the plants you might want to use at home. And where else can you see a Big Horn Sheep up close?
