Description: At GRILL-A-BURGER, Palm Desert, we have a passion for hamburgers. We make our trendsetting burgers the old-fashioned way using only the finest and freshest ingredients available. Our hand crafted, grilled-to-order, moist and juicy patties are made daily from fresh (never frozen) 100% all-natural USDA Inspected Choice Beef, free of artificial hormones, antibiotics, and other things that don't belong in hamburgers. And we have nice buns, too! They are freshly baked daily at a local bakery. Buns are slightly toasted and garnished with garden crisp lettuce, hand-sliced red onion, vine-ripened tomato and sliced kosher pickles. Our homemade French fries are never frozen and are only made with fresh Idaho Russet potatoes that are hand cut, double-fried and lightly salted without any processing steps in between. And we change our zero trans fat oil every day! Clean oil = crisp, great-tasting fries! Our authentic soda fountain milkshakes and malts are hand-dipped, hand spun and made with premium vanilla bean ice cream, whole milk and natural flavorings. All served in a place that considers our environment by using food packaging that is all natural and made from annually renewable resources by buying from as many local vendors as possible and, of course, by using energy efficient equipment and recycling. We hope this is everything that you have been looking for in a burger place and MORE! Again, welcome and enjoy! “No way is it the 2nd best in Palm Desert”

This place is good, fun atsmosphere and burgers were very good, but not the best I have ever had. Certainly this is not the 2nd top restaurant in Palm Desert. This ranking makes me wonder how it got that level of rating. Yes, I would recommend it, but Five Guys is just as good a burger--not as good atmosphere.

“Great Food, Fun Atmosphere, Excellent Service”
Reviewed 10 April 2014

The tripadvisor reviews for this place seem to make it a must-visit when near Palm Desert, and since we were hungry for a casual meal we gave it a shot.

The exterior is extremely nondescript strip mall. Inside, though, the décor is casual and fun, a bit of a thematic Bouillabaisse and a bit cramped, but with a funky tiki bar thing going on. The menu has a similar “let’s throw it against the wall and see if it sticks” vibe to it, but it works, and provides greater and more varied options than you might expect.

We had six in our group- five of us had burgers and my daughter had a hot dog. The “Big Burgers” we all had were large, well-prepared and very good. Toppings were fresh and plentiful. My daughter’s hot dog was very good as well. There are 30 Big Burgers offered, 6 Mini Burgers (2 oz patty,) quite a few no-beef alternatives (chicken, turkey, salmon, veggie) and some salads. There are a lot of choices for sides as well (mostly fried, but also a side salad and cole slaw,) and we got some plain fries, garlic fries, and avocado fries. The plain fries were excellent. The garlic fries…well, let’s just say there is nothing subtle about the garlic fries, it is an in-your-face fresh garlicky experience. I loved them, my son loved them, but the rest of the group was overwhelmed. The avocado fries, though, were my favorite, wedges of firm-yet-creamy avocado dipped and battered with an appropriate amount of sea salt added. Just wonderful.

The service was excellent. Farouk, the owner, greeted us when we came in and throughout our meal cycled through the restaurant, doing some schmoozing all along but also assuring all was ok and remedying that which wasn’t. You can tell this guy cares about his business, and cares that your visit to his restaurant is a great one. That’s the way it should be. Our server was excellent as well.

Overall, this is a really good burger joint. I wish tripadvisor would let me give a half star, as this was a four and a half star experience. While my burger was very good, I did not find it to be the BurgerNirvana that others do, but the quality of the burger and sides, along with the fun atmosphere and great service, should put this place at the top of your casual dining list if you’re in the area.

“Just Great Burgers”
Reviewed 6 April 2014

There are a lot of places around here for a great burger, from Five Guys in Rancho Mirage to Eureka in Indian Wells. Grill-A-Burger is nothing fancy, but you can get a really great burger and some awesome fries at very reasonable prices. I figured the place would be fun when the waitress was wearing an apron that read "Burger B****." The menu is fun too, with clever descriptions of the many burgers, hot dogs and other offerings. The burger itself was large, juicy, and flavorful (try it with bacon!). The fries were cut thin and skin on. They also advertise that they change their oil every day, resulting in a better tasting fry. No argument there. So if you want a good burger without a lot of pretensions, Grill-A-Burger gets my vote.

“Great Burgers and more…..”
Reviewed 4 April 2014

This small family run business is a gem in the desert. We have been here twice and both times have raved about the amazing menu selections. The menu is so much fun to read, but the burgers are amazing. They have Tri Fries - onion rings, fries, and sweet potato fries - something for everyone in our group of 6. There service is outstanding, with seeing some of the same staff from our visit last year. What makes this burger joint exceptional, not only for the food but the owner actually visits with all the guests. Pretty amazing for this day and age.
