“Great week at Shadow Ridge”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

Just got back from another great week at Shadow Ridge. This was our fourth year in a row always staying either the last week of May or the first week of June. Would have rated our stay a five except for the following problems.

Had some issues with our room on check in. New bedroom curtains installed in living room and vice versa( neither would open or close properly), no plug for the bath tub, got locked out as "smart keys" stopped working and had to call security, no sheets for the couch bed. Staff responded and all was fixed eventually.

New A/C thermostats are a joke. If you want to turn up the temperature by one degree, the heater comes on until it arrives at the higher temperature. Engineering was called and agreed that this is how the new system works. Suggested that I just turn the system off until the room warmed up on its own, which is what should happen if you turn the thermostat up. Crazy, and not efficient( so much for being green).

Loved lounging at the "lounge" pool. Stephanie and Brittany did a great job serving everyone there. All the Shadow Ridge staff is very friendly and professional.

This is also a great place to ride bikes. This is a very large property and you can get a great long ride in without leaving the gates.

All in all, a nice relaxing week. Will probably come again next year. Hopefully they can fix the A/C issues.

but refurbished and small balcony with golf course view. the 2800, 2900 and 3000 sections are all refurbished. And a quiet location close to a "quiet" pool. Shuttle every 30 minutes to restaurants and all other pools and sports and activities. Overall great place for kids. Hourly programs including wine tasting for adults. Golf, Golf, Golf too. My recommendation: Visit Palm Springs but play and stay in Palm Desert! Recommended MeuterMedia

This place was amazing for the family! My two sons and my husband and I stayed for a long weekend and we had a wonderful time here. We stayed in a one bedroom villa and the sofa bed is very comfortable- not the typical sofa bed where you feel the bars and see springs on the sides of the sofa when you pull out the bed. It's got a full kitchen with a full fridge, washer/dryer and dishwasher. It's perfect for families who don't want to constantly be going out to breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is a Costco that's close by (and lots of restaurants off the property in case one did want to venture out) and so were able to stock up on essentials and hang out by the pool and come back to bbq (they have bbqs outside) and eat back at the room.
I have two young boys and the older one (8 years old) loved the activity center and the main pool with the water slide so we decided to stay walking distance to the activity center. This property is HUGE so I would recommend staying close to where you plan on hanging out. In our case, it was the activity center that had arts and crafts throughout the day, a movie theater that played family friendly movies throughout the day, video games, toys, and other activities for the kids and family (sundae station, bingo, s'mores, watching movies out by the pool). There's adult activities as well. They also have a nice fitness center and different free classes that you can take (Zumba, Cardio Kickboxing, etc).
The food at the pool areas were ok- nothing too exciting.
They do offer shuttle service that will pick you up and drop you off in front of wherever you want on the property, but when it's a busy time you will wait up to 15-20 minutes. On our last day we hung out at the 'sandy pool' which is at the Enclaves. The kids loved building sand castles, playing at the splash zone, and getting in the pool. Make sure to bring sand toys and lots of sunscreen! They also offer complimentary swim diapers for the babies.
Hotel staff are quite friendly and helpful.
Overall- we would definitely return here! We had a great time and the kids can't wait to come back!

Room Tip: Stay where you plan on hanging out the most since it's a large area. We stayed in the 1600 area...

My wife and I spent the past week at this location. It was our third trip to Palm Desert and by far the most relaxing and enjoyable. This Marriott property features a bunch of units. My wife and I were in a full one bedroom unit. Through the use of the pull out sofa, the unit could comfortably sleep four adults. Since this was the week before Memorial Day there were two pluses. My wife and I were in the 2900 of 3000 buildings. Until Friday, the Friday before the holiday, the resort was at about 52% occupancy. This made for a very quiet and relaxing vacation. Second, the temperature only reach 100 on the first night of our stay. The highs were in the 80's for most of our stay. Quiet a break from what we are used to. The unit we occupied sat on the 16th fairway. The golfers of varying degree made for wonderful entertainment during our morning breakfasts on the patio. We visited the on-site Grill restaurant on our last evening and loved the offerings. The Marketplace has ample selections if you are on property without a vehicle. The numerous shuttles make it possible not to have to drive if you don't chose. The scaled downed DirecTV offerings made for wonderful television watching when we weren't enjoying our Apple TV. Simply put, my wife and I had a wonderful, relaxing vacation at this location. We will return.

Room Tip: The 2900 building is located right in front of the "Quiet Pool". If you are sneaking away...

My husband and I stayed here for a short weekend trip to Palm Desert/ Palm Springs area. Love the accommodation. The whole resort is amazing. Lots of fun things to do for all ages. Fitness activities and a well equipped gym. I will definitely recommend and bring the rest of the family here in the future! Lots of restaurants nearby and shopping places. Golf is definitely a must if you want.

Room Tip: Choose the golf resort view on the third floor.

If you can get a decent rate, this is one of the nicer places to say in Palm Desert. Stayed in a studio and it is perfect for two people. It is close to the shopping center. Great golf. The beds were extremely comfortable. The only thing was the hot tub in our area was really cold. It wasn't even luke warm. We did call it in and was not fixed by the time we left. Other than that they staff was great, and the place was perfect.

Room Tip: try and get next to a pool
