Stayed 2 nights in 1bdr villa. It was ground floor on golf course. View was great,check-in was good. Would have given it excellent but someone upstairs was running a track meet! It was a small child as I told them to cool it up there. My mistake, stay upstairs if you want no noise. Also played golf and got great rate on Golfnow site.

Room Tip: Away from main area on Hovley ave.

Beautiful property and wonderful villas. We have the two bedroom villa, on the first floor, and it includes two bedrooms, two bathrooms (one with a very large soaker tub), a living room, kitchen and dining room. Plenty of space for everyone to spread out. It also has two patio areas - great for watching the sunset over the golf course and enjoying the balmy evening weather.

We have been calling it a "cruise ship in the desert" as they provide quite a few activities at the Shade for all ages. Everything from Garbage Bingo to cake decorating. Parking is right next to our villa. Each section of villas has its own pool area (including two which have been designated as "quiet pools"), there is a basketball court, and gym.

It is very relaxing. Additionally there is a Ralph's supermarket across the street, fast food and Starbucks nearby, and a Costco, Sam's Club, Kohl's and Wal-Mart within a few miiles.

I definitely would recommend this resort.

In Early June, we enjoyed a week at the Marriott Desert Springs II timeshare. We had a one bedroom Villa that had a nice view of the water feature on the golf course. We requested and received a 2nd floor unit. I like a quiet location and don’t want to risk having overhead noise. We typically go there twice a year and as a disclaimer, we own there.. However, this time we were staying there on a Getaway through Interval International.

The unit was clean and everything worked fine. The icemaker leaked at the beginning of our stay but then settled down.

In April, we had been at the Marriott Shadow Ridge. I noted that the DSV2 is being maintained a bit better. At DSV2, they are in the process of refreshing the outside unit colors. I liked the old colors but the new ones are nice too.

We had a pair of BBQ grills next to the building we were staying in. They were both clean but on one of them I had difficulty getting all of the burners going. But the other one was available and started up fine. Regardless of where you are staying in this complex, you aren’t very far from a grill. Typically less than 2 units away.

Marriott is continuing with their Quiet Pools after having momentarily suspending them last year. We enjoyed the nearby Cassia quiet pool. People were generally respectful of the need to be relatively quiet. There were people talking but at least there weren’t kids screaming and rough-housing. I think that there are a lot of other older people who like a tranquil atmosphere at a pool. There are six more active pools for those who like more noise and activity.

We enjoyed the Friday afternoon wine and cheese party. As always, it was fun talking to other timeshare people in that informal setting. We also enjoyed watching the evening DVD movies that they played on the timeshare cable TV. We also attended the beer tasting event at the Shade activity center ($10 pp). Each day I walked to either the clubhouse/check-in lobby or to one of the pools and picked up a free USA today.

We went to some of our favorite local restaurants and one new one. The favorites included (1) Morton’s steakhouse, (2) Sherman‘s NY Deli, (3) Grill-A-burger, (4) Kobe‘s Japanese and the new one (5) Ruth Chris‘.

At Morton‘s we usually skip their higher-priced restaurant meals and instead go to the bar during their 4-6 pm Happy Hour. If you need 2000-3000 calories and a two pound meal, then you probably won’t like their “bar bites”. But if you are watching your weight a bit and don’t need a huge meal, then you’ll find the bar bites to be nicely priced, very good tasting and adequate in every way. Two people, 1 martini and a bill of under $35 including tip.

We also went to Sherman’s NY Deli (Monterray and Country Club)- - it is consistently good, has good service and is fairly priced. The meals are usually big enough that you can take a box back with you for either the next day’s lunch or dinner.

We had our choice of 30 different burgers at Grill-a-burger. (Monteray and Country Club) Good burgers, fairly priced, and fast service.

Kobe’s Japanese (101 in Rancho Mirage) has a 5-6 pm Early-bird special where you get a reasonable discount on their grill-in-front-of-you cooking. They are consistently good and fairly priced ($18 for the entre)..

Our new restaurant was Ruth Chris’. We went to their Happy Hour in the bar. The reputation of Ruth Chris is very good, but I didn’t want to spend the $ for a big 2000 calorie meal. So we went to the bar. They have a small menu for the bar that is very low-priced. But I skipped the special appetizer food (including the filet sliders) and instead had the Filet Steak Sandwich for $18. It came with fries and was huge. Enough for two meals. So, that is one of my new “secrets” for the area. Just take Cook to 111, make a right and it’s a block to the West.

BTW, some of the cheapest gas in the area is consistently at Costco by Monteray and 10.

well maintained clean property. we had golf curse view and walking up to it and having breakfast at patio was very relaxing. The rooms were clean and well maintained but white curtains needs to be washed. Had some stains and very dusty that it looked like gray. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay!

The four of us enjoyed our four nights at the Marriott Villas. The rooms were nicely furnished, well-equipped, and comfortable. Check-in was very slow, the view we were promised was not provided until we complained and changed villas. The grounds and pools are spectacular. We would probably return.

Room Tip: Require ground floor rooms with a view of the golf course (definitely not the street).
