“Best Weekend Ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 August 2009

just got back from a fantastic weekend in Palm Springs at Casa Ocotillo. Our hosts Brian and Vic couldn't have been nicer or more accomodating. the rooms were super comfortable and the property is the perfect size.
we even grilled steaks on the bbq just so we didn't have to leave.
Can't wait to go back to our new "home away from home".
thanks guys
Erich & Ken

Recently spent a weekend with a group celebrating a friends birthday. The accommodations make you feel as if you are staying at a very well off friends private estate. Our room, 'brass balls' was one of the smaller rooms available, but was quite roomy and comfortable. The hosts, Brian & Vic, made every accommodation availble to us, including giving us use of their own kitchen and dining room for a birthday celebration dinner. The favorite amenity of all of us was the communal kitchen. The refrigerator was constantly stocked with multiple types of soda, juices and water as well as an assortment of muffins, yogurt and fresh fruit. The true gated off street parking is a rarity on Palm Springs, The comfortably chilled pool in 100+ temps was also a nice touch.

Where does one stay in Palm Springs that is clean, comfortable, gay, upscale and accessible? After traveling to PS for almost 10 years, it was a true pleasure to find the Casa. Nestled in a historic quiet neighborhood, walking distance to THE mexican restaurant in town, Brian and Vic have created the perfect spot. A great combination of home and hotel: comfortable rooms, relaxing environment, friendly and unobtrusive service, salt water pool (a must!), friendly (not sleazy) guests, and good coffee! For newcomers to PS, they know the local restaurant and bar scene very well (as in what's good, as opposed to what is politic).
Yes there are more pricey places to stay, but finally -- there is no need. Casa Ocotillo delivers.

This was our third visit to our Palm Springs home away from home, and the first time that we visited Palm Springs in the summer season. We actually stayed at Brian and Vic’s original bed and breakfast in Phoenix, and based on our experience there looked forward to the opening of the Casa. We must say, we have not been disappointed. Each time that we have returned, the experience has only gotten better. We only wish that our stay could have lasted even longer. However, there is always the anticipation of the next visit.

It is like being at home…but better. Brian and Vic (and Ashley) are incredible and personable hosts, and they provided us with great recommendations for dining and entertainment options during our stay. The resort is ideally located, as we could walk to several fine restaurants or take a short drive into the center of the town where additional options were available.

We were able to fully utilize the pool this time around, as the weather was ideal for swimming and relaxing. There is nothing better than viewing the desert sunset with your partner while floating in the spacious pool. It is indeed paradise.

We have always booked the Hacienda suite, which has a private patio and an incredibly spacious bathroom and shower. Just about everything is provided for at the Casa, including the use of a guest kitchen facility, laundry service, bikes, film library, etc. Everything that is provided and available at the Casa is top class. I don’t think that our hosts would ever have it any other way.

We are looking forward to returning again during the Christmas holidays, and are already counting the days until we can return to our “home in the desert”.

Hummingbirds like this place. And why wouldn't they? There's got to be a dozen hummingbird feeders dangling from the eaves of the attractive hacienda-style buildings, providing an around-the-clock buffet for the little guys. Surely keeping the facility seeming like an unofficial nature sanctuary has got to require a lot of work and attention.

Filling hummingbird feeders is probably an apt metaphor for the care the proprietors take of their guests, though you're likely to be served something stronger than sugar-water during the cocktail hour.

They've thought of everything here -- the pool is salt-water, the rooms are nice, the beds comfortable, the towels fluffy. If you can imagine you'd want it, they've already done it for you, but all in a very casual and not-fussy way. Each room is different, and features (good) art and artifacts the guys have collected in their various travels.

The flip side of what's described above is that is that Vic and Brian are available and attentive without being intrusive. (Their dog, Ashley, mirrors that tone. He'll come over, wag his tail, smile, and visit for a minute -- but probably won't lick you.) Wagging tails but not actually licking the guests is a good way to describe the hosts.

All this casual comfortableness occurs in a lush desert-tropical setting that I was sad to leave, pondering the traffic back to the big city. But the good news is that, like the hummingbirds, I can return again, and again, and again ...

We just had the best stay so far at Casa Ocotillo! Vic and Brian, the owners, were great and hospitable and did everything to make our weekend Great! They made all our dinner reservations and suggested places to dine, all of which were spectacular! We love the fact that's it is SO relaxing and quiet there! Our dog had a great time with the other dogs as well! I love having my morning coffee on the outdoor living area! This IS the perfect getatway when you don't want all the craziness and just want to RELAX, UNWIND and RECHARGE. It's five minutes from all the bars/clubs/restaraunts/shopping, etc. Great company, cocktails by the pool, and a relaxing time...what else do you need? We didn't want to leave! AND we can't wait to go back!!
