“What a hidden jewel!”
Reviewed 2 March 2005

A Place in the Sun doesn't have a lot of rooms, it doesn't have a restaurant, it doesn't have a noisy nightclub, it isn't in the middle of a busy downtown area, and it doesn't even have a spiffy outside facade.

What it does have is a delightful informal family atmosphere, and clean, attractive, and quiet rooms. We stayed here for the first time in February 2005, unfortunately for only a few days but I can tell you that we will be back! Coming from New Hampshire, we have been used to going to Florida in the middle of the snow season (along with half the East Coast population). No longer; we loved being able to walk the Indian Canyons and the trails of the Joshua Tree National Park, and we could reach the Park in a couple of hours.

Besides the morning snacks in the office and the cheerful smile of Norma there, we also found other neat things to do in the Palm Springs area. Who knows, we might even think about taking up golf when we run out of trails to walk.

What a wonderful place.
Been there 6 or 7 times over the last 12 years, but under it's new ownership Ron and Norma, it's even more special than before. For all the huge, overpriced places you can stay in Palm Springs, this is the proverbial little gem. We always try to stay in unit 18, the big one with the fireplace and private jacuzzi on the large private patio. Everything is fresh and colourful.
There's plenty of sunny room to live for an extended weekend with Grams and the kid and our Brittany Spaniel. Just like home (except nicer in several respects). Breakfast on the pool deck is colourful and generous. The movie collection is super as well as the book choice. Full kitchen in unit 18 with everything in a sunny Palm Springs house-ette. Just great.

It even rained a bit this weekend, but the pool was warm and fun. Close to town. Sounds like I've exaggerated...but nope...I haven't.

Ron and Norma are great people are love dogs. The place looks like something off the beaten path, but once you enter the gardens, it is peaceful and serene. Nice pool and spa. Only has 16 bungalows. Kind of retro, but some have large backyards. Very quiet and nicely appointed rooms. This is located very close to downtown. We took our Golden Retriever and Black Lab and everyone had a great time.

A Place in the Sun is a hidden bargain in old Palm Springs. The facility is classic mid-century, with low slung ,airy ,well spaced accomodations and grounds that are colorful and perfectly maintained. The rooms are pleasing and fresh and the towls and pillows are piled high. Ron and Norma, your hosts, treat you as if you are guests at their home. Be sure to include a weekend so that you can partake of Norma's fabulous quiches.

We stayed at A Place in the Sun 3 nights, Dec 1 - 8, and couldn't have been more pleased. Very peaceful quiet setting with great access to all the local shopping and restaurants. Beautiful mountain view from the room and pool. The owners were were very friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms are tastefully decorated and comfortable. Being from the midwest we went right to sleep that first night as soon as we arrived early that evening! That was one of the best night's rest I've had in a long time! This was our 1st anniversary trip and A Place in the Sun was an perfect beginning to a great CA trip. I loved the pool and the brunch that is served on the weekends is an experience in itself.
