My wife and I's 3rd time at Hotel California. It gets better every time. Very relaxing and shockingly accommodating. I joked with Larry that I didn't want to tell any of our San Diego friends about it for fear we would not be able to make reservations in the future.

An indisputable measure of any hotel's success is repeat business. During our stay at the Hotel California we lost count of the number of returning guests we met, including one couple of who had returned just seven weeks after their last visit. If you call to make a reservation for the high season, you may be surprised how hard it is to get a room. Proprietor Larry and his impeccably attentive team of colleagues have one of the most popular hotels in Palm Springs and they're doing everything right to keep satisfied guests coming back again and again.

The recipe is simple. Fourteen rooms in a handful of small two storey blocks, tightly arranged around a small swimming pool, hot tub and patio area. Balconies, water features and lots of sensitive planting has created an idyllic courtyard hotel, one that blocks the noise of the streets outside and captures a little patch of Palm Springs sunshine. From your poolside recliner you'll be able to see the mountains while being gently cooled by the misters. Ten minutes in the hot tub will relax you before you slip into the pool for a lazy length or two. And while your head was turned, one of the attentive members of staff will replace your towels, straighten the loungers and refill your wine glass.

From check in, we were positively forced to relax. Curly handled the check in process perfectly, and then over the following couple of hours made our arrival even more perfect with a late reservation at Lulu's California Bistro downtown. He even chauffeured us there and back in the hotel's (outrageous) black and orange Harley Davidson themed limo.

The rooms and suites themselves are nothing particularly remarkable, but they are clean, well maintained and very comfortable. Most of have small kitchenettes, but there is a large and very well equipped communal kitchen adjacent to the patio for all guests to use. The nature of the hotel means that most guests rise early and go to bed early. Most like to be up early to get their favourite sun lounger or to hit the golf courses before the temperature gets too high. Impressively, we were told that Coachella festival goers were politely dissuaded from making reservations this year, because this is a quiet, low key, and beautifully calming hotel. You'll have opportunities to get to know your fellow guests, but at no time did we feel cramped or crowded by other guests. We cooked our own meals in several evenings, and enjoyed perfect solitude by the pool, the candle light and lanterns flickering around us and reflecting on the still waters of the pool.

Will we be repeat customers? As part of a fifteen day honeymoon from the UK, touring 1,600 miles through California, this was our first stay at the Hotel California and our first visit to Palm Springs. In spite of our meticulously planned itinerary, we were so taken with the quality of our stay that we changed our travel plans and switched rooms to stay for twice as long. We're so glad that we did, because Larry and the team looked after us impeccably for another two nights.

Room Tip: There is a mix of rooms that are directly poolside and those that are slightly more secluded. Use the property map on the website and call the hotel directly - the staff will be delighted to recommend one that suits your taste.

We stayed 4 nights at the Hotel California last week being in town for a wedding. We can only echo what everyone has posted here that you will not be disappointed! Larry is such a great host and all of the staff were friendly and courteous. The pool is quiet and a great place to lounge around. Fresh fruit and coffee are available in the morning. We stayed in room 7 and it was private and serene. The hotel is only a five minute drive from downtown (in fact, Palm Springs itself is rather compact and easy to get around). You love the Hotel California!!

Room Tip: Room 7 is very private.

Hotel California was an awesome choice for a clean & tidy property with comfy rooms/beds, nice linens, fluffy towels, outstanding staff and quiet adult atmosphere! I stayed in the Townhouse room which was exceptional for space and comfort. Other rooms appeared of similar quality! Kudos to both Larry and Curly for taking such great care of us during our stay whether we needed a ride in the Harley limo to go downtown, to borrow the bikes for a leisurely ride, advice on shopping or eating, or a bottle of champagne, they offered tremendous service and deserve the repeat customers we met during our stay! I would not hesitate to return or recommend this great little hotel to anyone wanting peace and quiet on a relaxing trip to Palm Springs! The evening atmosphere with candles and tiki torches is really lovely to come back to every evening!

I think after reading all the reviews out expectations were out of this world and the hotel failed to deliver.
There are many good things about this hotel, but I would rate it any better than average or slightly above average.
