If you are looking for an Italian restaurant in Palm springs, go there! Food is excellent (fish, pizza,...), service is good, and we had a bil of 200$ for a party of 4 with 2 bottles of wine! Really great value for money!

Second and most likely last visit to Sammy's. First time went for lunch and waited over five minutes for someone to come to the hostess area so finally went inside to see if someone could help seat us. After seated the waiter and servers were very good. Ordered burgers and they were excellent. When the check came they overcharged us based on the printed menu price for the two Sam Adams we had. No big deal but still. Since the food was good we decided to go for dinner for our anniversary. We looked at the menu online to get an idea what we might have and found the prices way high for our taste. Pasta dishes from $16 and up not including even a salad. Caesar salad $10, antipasto $18 for examples. Since we had purchaed a $10 certificate from restaurant.com we decided to eat in the bar and order off their bar menu. Had a couple of drinks and started with the fried calamari and the half dozen oysters in the shell. Calamari was lightly breaded served with a marinara sauce for dipping. Calamari lacked seasoning and the breading had a hard time staying on the calamari. The calamari was fairly tendor though. Five out of six oysters were still stuck to the shell. Weren't the freshest but passed as ok. Served with a nicely wrapped lemon for drizzling on the oysters and horseradish and cocktail sauce. Had to ask the bartender for some Tabasco. To finish we ordered the personal size Margherita pizza. Was nothing like the ones we are used to. The size of the pizza was ok, but it was basically a cheese pizza with very few strands, and I mean strands of basil and no fresh mozz or tomatoes. Also the thin crust was cooked half through. Expected more got less. Also they would not accept the certificate saying the bar menu was considered a promotion and although we spent way over the $15 required to use the certificate, they still would not take it. Seemed like the bar menu is a standard bar menu not promotional to us, but what the heck, we gave the certificate to two other couples who were going to have dinner in the regular part of the restaurant. The only reason for three stars is that the bartender and servers were very pleasant otherwise it was a two star experience.

We came here during the week (not crowded) and were seated immediately. The restaurant has a great Tuscan atmosphere, though it was a little dark. A local singer was performing that night, but I felt bad because not that many people were there to eat. Unfortunately, I forgot the name of our server, but he was excellent, answered our questions and made small talk with us. The olive pate served with the bread was very light yet flavorful compared to others I have eaten. While our food tasted fantastic, it could have been warmer when it was brought out. I would love to come back to this place to eat again.
