“Very pleasant”
Reviewed 19 June 2013

This is a boutique hotel near the center of downtown Palm Springs. It has a good pool that's big enough to allow for limited lap swimming and poolside chairs for reading and relaxing. The attached Mexican restaurant Mirasol is excellent. They don't however open until 8:30 in the morning so you have to venture into downtown Palm Springs if you want an early breakfast. The rooms are nicely decorated with tile floors and very clean. On the downside the rooms all look out on walkways so there isn't much privacy if you have you window open. I can't speak for all the rooms but mine lacked a refrigerator which I consider a necessity for summer travel. But the person on the desk did fill my small cooler with ice which kept my drinks cold through the night. All in all it was a very pleasant stay, better than most but not quite a “5”.

Thanks for taking the time to share your comments about your visit to Los Arboles. Glad to read that you enjoyed your visit to our small corner of Palm Springs. El Mirasol is open for breakfast at 8:30am Saturday and Sunday ... midweek we often refer our guests to a great local breakfast/lunch restaurant called Cheeky's which is a block away from Los Arboles on Palm Canyon Drive. We appreciate your support and hope to see you back again soon.

¡Gracias!

Stayed here on a Sunday night on a Travelzoo voucher billed as $89 for overnight stay for two including two margaritas and chips and salsa. The room was extremely basic but nice and clean; the pool and jacuzzi area very nice. There are signs posted around the pool area re: please don't bring any personal water/soda/food from your room; those items are available from their restaurant/bar, El Mirasol. Only problem: It's Monday morning...and I'm still puzzled as to when the restaurant would open so you could actually get any of those things. There are no ice machines, no vending machines...you are on your own! We left at 10am (check out is 11am) and never saw a single person that worked at the hotel. And bummer about those free margaritas and chips and salsa...would have cashed that in at check-in on Sunday afternoon had we known that was our last chance. I stay in the Palm Springs area often and there are so many other places on a higher plane than this hotel. Not recommended.

Room Tip: Don't stay here.

Thanks for your comments Mickey! There are times when no matter how hard we try, and we do try very hard, we disappoint. We strive to make these unpleasant stays very few and very far between.

As a small hotel, you may have missed our snack and vending area located just inside the Front Desk Office. There we have a large variety of healthy and maybe not so healthy snacks, soda's, juices, cookies and nuts available for our guests. We added this snack center several months ago after our Trip Advisor guests asked for it.

When it comes to ice, we want to be nice! We could install an ice machine outside on the property for guests to serve themselves, but we decided to keep it inside for a couple of reasons. First and foremost because we are here to serve our guests! When you come to the front desk or the restaurant for ice, our staff get to spend just a little time with you! We get to know you and hopefully you get to know us too! The second reason that we leave the ice machine inside is strictly ecological...it's blazing hot outside. That means that the ice machine must work extra hard to make and to keep ice. That's not good for the environment. We consider our property and staff to be good stewards of the environment. This is one way that we show it!

Finally, I'll share a little insight into the way we staff our property to assure that all of our guests get the service they deserve! You can count on the Front Office to be open daily from 830AM-530PM during the Summer months. Our restaurant has staff on property from as early as 730AM all the way until past midnight every day as well. Most of our guests appreciate this non-invasive nature during there stay. We are always around, always ready to help our guests with their needs, but we do tend to stay 'in the shadows' so that our guests can simply enjoy their time and relax with us!

Again, I Thank You for your comments and we would certainly welcome you back to Los Arboles anytime your travels bring you to Palm Springs!

My wife and I recently stayed here on a weekend getaway without the kids. We were shopping for value when we booked, and believe me when I say, this is the best value in the area by far. We will definitely be coming back. We loved this hotel and had an amazing experience. The property is small with only about 20 rooms, but it has tons of personality. A lot of the guests seemed to be hanging out at the pool when we arrived. While my wife and I didn't hang out at the pool, it looked like a fun place to just chill and enjoy the Palm Springs sunshine. As some other people have mentioned, the rooms are a little on the small side, but we never felt cramped. We had an idea of what to expect before we arrived from the research we had done. The room looked recently remodeled and was well appointed.
You must go to the Mexican restaurant attached to the hotel, El Mirasol. It was delicious and the patio dining was very enjoyable. Do yourself a favor and pick up a bottle of their house hot sauce on your way out, Dona Diabla. it's addictive. It's the best $7 dollars we spent the whole weekend.

We travel a lot for business and leisure and finding this boutique Hotel made our trip even better. Our room was spacious and very well appointed. The pool area lush and relaxing. We ate in the outdoor restaurant, best Mexican food we have ever had. The only bad thing was, we couldn't stay longer.....
Thank you for a wonderful experience, we will be back.

Room Tip: All rooms just off the pool area.

We came out to Palm Springs last minute, and everything was totally sold out (not to mention a gazzillion dollars!). We stumbled upon Los Arboles, and after just walking into the courtyard; had our fingers crosses that they had something open.... One person had canceled, and yay! We got the room (and it didn't break our bank!). The rooms are beautiful and clean, the staff goes out of their way for guests and are super friendly, and the overall atmosphere is amazing (intimate and relaxing). Come here as a couple or with friends, and trust me you will not be disappointed!

Thanks So Much! We could not have said that better ourselves!

We really take so much pride in our property and our Staff! We consider everyone that stays with us, whether for a single night or weeks on end, as a part of our extended family. We built this hotel from the ground up with that purpose in mind! So Thanks Again! We appreciate your comments!

when I stay in Palm Springs, which I do several times each year, I expect the pool to be in the low to mid 80s. This pool unfortunately wasn't, so I was very disappointed. The other drawback is that the hotel doesn't allow you to drink your personal beverages at the poolside. The restaurant next door will sell you drinks, but they don't exactly provide speedy poolside service. This hotel has great potential as the room was comfy and the tropical ambiance is beautiful. Just need to heat up the pool, add more outdoor seating, and drop the no personal drinks policy and I'll be back.

Room Tip: Rooms which back on to Tamarisk are the most quiet, plus they open to a garden area where there'...

Dear BarbC,

Thanks So Much for taking the time to provide your feedback! We believe all guest responses are important and we take action quickly when our guests speak!

We noticed that you spoke about the water temperature and our pool policies. We do, as a rule, keep the pool heated to 82 degrees year around for the comfort of all of our guests. In the winter months, as the daytime temperatures hover in the 60's and 70's, the pool remains warm and inviting. In the summer as our temperatures jump to triple digits, the pool can provide a necessary diversion from the desert heat.

Our pool policies are set up in a similar fashion to our pool temperature. By asking all of our guests to leave personal foods and beverages in their guest rooms, we can help to keep the area safe for all of our guests by eliminating glass, and other dangerous items in our pool area. Occasionally we do have to remind a guest of this policy and for the most part, our guest's are absolutely wonderful in their respect for the property and for each other by following our simple rules.

We Thank You Again for your comments and look forward to another visit with you at Los Arboles Hotel!
