“Nice stay, clean & comfortable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2012

Very clean room, love the all white simple bedding and decor. Nice little place right in town. Not recommended for party-ers or people with kids, you wouldn't enjoy it. This is more a quiet and relaxing place, but that's why many people come to Palm Springs - to de-stress. The continental breakfast is coffee and a breakfast bar, but you can walk to a handful of great food places.

We stayed on Memorial day weekend. We normally choose a resort outside of town, but since there were several of us, we decided to stay close to town. From entering the place, I knew it was going to be a good stay. The receptionist was nice, but she did not let us check-in until 3pm.
We ended up having a few drinks in one of the bars that is in the property of the hotel.
Our room was great and roomy and the A/C worked well. It was a big dark for my taste (not a lot of natural sunlight), but we didn't really spend time in the room (see pictures).
The hotel property is well kept and it was clean. It is a small hotel, so you lose a lot of what you might expect from a larger property. There's no gym or pool cocktail service.
Parking is limited in the actual hotel parking lot, but there is parking across the street. Luckily, we found a spot every night we came back, although we did have to sit and wait for someone to leave.
The hotel charges you a "resort fee" this is not a resort and what you get does not justify the $20 dollars. The wi-fi signal is weak in the room, it only worked well in the pool area which is in the middle of the property. I did not see a continental breakfast, just one type of pastry and coffee. Perhaps, it was served in a different room, but I did not care to ask. They do have a lot of bicycles in case you want to bike ride, that's part of the "resort fee".
The consensus. We enjoyed our stay and I think that the property is well kept, I felt safe and the rate you pay you can't really beat . Would I return? Not sure..... it didn't leave a memorable "ah-ha!" experience for us and several of our friends felt the same. It was just OK in my opinion, which is not to say that it was negative.
What type of guest should you expect? We saw mid 30's upscale couples. I would qualify this place as an 'adults" retreat for a weekend.

My husband and I stayed in Rm 43 on May 23rd and what a pleasant surprise to find this jewel of a place. The room was immaculate and well decorated. Wish it had been cooler weather to take advantage of the fireplace in our room. Love the beautiful gardens and flowers. The homemade cinnamon rolls in the morning were mouth-watering. Staff was very helpful and welcoming. If your looking for a place out of the ordinary but outstanding in every way, then this is the place for you. Enjoy!

The Alcazar is a very nice place to stay. The hotel grounds are very well kept and have a hip, cozy atmosphere after recent remodel. Great location as you are entering the heart of Palm Springs. They offer bicycles to ride which is great being on the main drag. The staff was very helpful including the manager Robert. My wife and I enjoyed are stay very much.

We booked this hotel with a Groupon coupon, was a great deal. The hotel is very clean and beautiful, perfect to relax at the pool and to visit Palm Springs by foot or with the free bicycles that are available.

The Alcazar Palm Springs was another hotel that was completely redone in 2011. The grounds are beautiful with the rooms surrounding the pool and a spa area. The lounges are comfortable and has a fabulous view of the mountains. There is a wall that is like a waterfall in the courtyard area and on another planter type area, volcanic rock that is fired in the evening. The trees are lite and there are blooming flowers all over that smell great. Very romantic grounds. The hotel is connected to Cheekys for breakfast and lunch (always crowded) and Birba which is a bar with limited dinner menu. Both were good and the drinks at Birba were unique and very tasty however service was slow in both places.
The rooms are probably the one area I had problems with. First they are all white and look very clean and sterile. Plantation shutters and glass brick accent walls keep the unit very bright. We had a king courtyard room #17 and it was very very noisy. Later I asked the front desk about the noisy rooms and clearly she had been told this before as she provided a map that showed the rooms to stay away from (rooms 15-19/wall backs into Indian Cyn. Drive; and also rooms 40-45 because they get the noise from the restaurants). The air conditioning was also pretty noisy when it turned on (automatic but wall units). The rooms had a bed, one wooden chair and a chest of drawers. The TV was hung on the wall and was very nice. However, the room would have been so much nicer with a small couch or some comfortable chairs. The rooms were plenty big enough to accomodate this addition. All and all, it was a beautiful hotel that I would stay in again if I could stay away from the rooms I noted above.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms 15-19 and 40-45 because of noise

This place was amazing. Very peaceful with such an attention to detail. The bikes weren't all rickety like some hotels. The owner was so available and helpful. I wasn't crazy about the polished concrete floors in the room, but other than that, incredible!
