“It isn't that English but what the heck....”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 February 2014

Staying at a nearby hotel and, being English, it was suggested we should go to Lyons. It's remarkably kitsch and very well worth a visit. It's got a lot of English things that are thrown everywhere which makes it a great place to walk around whilst waiting for the food. You name it and they have it; Toby Jugs, stain glass windows, punch cartoons, tankards, copper jugs, coats of arms, pictures of the Queen, it's all there. The waiters obviously take great pride in the place and as it was a slow Monday night I was shown around-marvellous!
It's obviously a locals bar that has three dining rooms so it's up to you whether you go into the bar or the dining room. The food was excellent but curious to find a rather good Yorkshire pudding termed a "popover". If you are the south end of Palm Springs you won't be disappointed with a visit and the size of the Early Bird portions (4.30-6.00) makes me seriously wonder just how big the standard menu must be!

“Very interesting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 January 2014

This was the last night of our holiday so wanted to have a drink as well and this was the nearest restuarant to our hotel glad it was.
The place is very decorative and quirky typically English definatly not but pleasant all the same, we were given pate as complimentary also Yorkshire Puddings nearly full before mains arrived.
My wife chose a stuffed Chicken Breast which she said was delicious I had a Steak and Kidney Pie which was served in a skillet and freshley baked, our waiter Victor was very good and when he knocked my water over me gave me a free pint of ale.
There was also a singer who specialised in Nat King Cole songs which made the whole even very special.

“Kitschy!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 January 2014

The kitsch and outdated decor is what makes Lyons so charming. The food is average and I only eat here as a last resort, but it's a great place to grab a drink if you're staying nearby. It's at least worth it just to go in for a drink to see the interior.

“Classic Dining!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 January 2014

Decided to check this place out and we were pleasantly surprised! The decor was awesome and the wait staff would not have been nicer. Our waiter gave us the history of the place and the owner (we missed seeing him but he will be 100 years of age in April and comes to the place every night!). We tared out with complementary liver pate which was good. The salads were a disappointment - good size but drenched in dressing (so have yours on the side...). The fresh popovers were great. I had the ground sirloin which was huge - under cooked as it was so thick The sides were lovely - the gravy had a beautiful seasoning to go the mashed potatoesl. My companion had the sole amandine which was very good. So, I will return and check out the menu further - early bird dinners we had were great.

“Ringing it in (NYE 2014) with Steaks and Duck”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 January 2014

Our New Year's Eve dinner experience was excellent! Love the old time Palm Springs aura of this dimly lit Tudoresque wonderland! Service was with a smile and personal anecdotes from our waiter who even went out of his way to make sure our table got servings of Yorkshire Pud. Prime rib was huge and the horseradish was scorching! Duck a la orange was also yummy, if a little dry without the sauce. I loved being surrounded by tables filled with the seemingly "old guard" of the original Palm Springs scene that precedes the now ever-increasingly "hip" scene that is developing there.
