“Pleasant Hike !”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

In Mid June, I hiked the Tahquitz Canyon. The trails were well maintained and the difficulty level was low. At the end of the trail, there is a waterfalls. A person can either walk back the same way that they came or can cross over the water and walk back on the other side.

I didn't notice any wild life when there but it was fun nevertheless.

If you are hiking during warm weather, make sure that you bring plenty of water with you.

“No Water”
Reviewed 4 July 2014

We went did this walk through the canyon which was great. Got to the waterfall but there was hardly any water there. We did only pay half price. I would recommend going here in the winter months

“The only decent hike near Palm Springs”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

Let's face it - this is not hiking country. There's Joshua Tree and there is this. BUT this hike is well worth doing. It is a loop trail that won't have you gasping for air (but be prepared for the heat of course - dress appropriately and bring water). The hike is interesting for a couple of things: the native Cahuilla indians lived here, and you can see their rock art, cave dwellings and other evidence of a people that (amazingly) thrived under these harsh environmental conditions. Secondly, there are lots of interesting desert plants, birds, and animals. And of course there is Taquitz Falls. All in all, an interesting and different day hike.
O yeah - bring a hat!

“My favorite hike in the area.”

There are giant rock formations and fantastic views leading up to a waterfall at the end. Go slow, start early in the morning, take more water than you think you will need.

“Very interesting”
Reviewed 5 June 2014 via mobile

We visited in February, and had a lovely afternoon. There is free parking (no shade though). I felt it wasn't overpriced, as our guided tour with 'Mountain Bob' was interesting and informative. There are restrooms and a gift shop at the start - the shop sells many things including bottled water, gifts, and Mountain Bob's own book! The waterfall was not very impressive, but there had been a drought for many months so I guess that was to be expected. It wasn't too challenging, although there are quite a few steps on the trail. You can also do unguided trails, but I recommend the ranger guided ones.
