My husband and I went to the bungalows over Memorial Day weekend as a wedding gift. What a treat!!!! A handful of our friends and family have stayed at the bungalows with nothing but great things to report. The owners, Walter and Davy, were gracious hosts from start to finish. This is an intimate place - just 6 rooms surrounding a relaxing pool. Our room was amazing - very spacious room with a cross of vintage 50's flare with more modern designer elements. The front lounge area can be closed off from the bedroom by a dividing wall, which we did at night to keep the room dark. Comfortable king size bed with down comforter. Kitchen is fully stocked with fun modern designer cups and plates...etc. Nice bathroom with shower (no tub). Private back patio that we used to eat breakfast or just relax. Our room opened up to the pool where we spent most of our time lounging.
The best part of our stay was the personal service from Walter and Davy - they were so friendly and attentive to us. We had mentioned that we wanted to take the Sky Tram up the San Juacinto Mountains and in a few seconds Walter handed us a brochure with all the details. Saturday morning, we opened our door to find two silver lunchboxes filled with breakfast goodies. What a nice surprise! Saturday evening Walter come up to us to offer a cocktail as we were relaxing by the pool and then we all sat and chatted for a while enjoying the calm surroundings and warm desert air. What made our stay so unique was the personal time Walter and Davy took in getting to know us and their other guests...this is what makes this place so special. We will definitely be back...hopefully renting out the entire space with all of our friends!

Charming lodging in beautiful Palm Springs. The mid-century furnishings in the rooms are wonderful. Rooms are spacious and fun. Loved the Eames chairs and the folding divider wall. The view by the pool (see picture) is amazing. Palm Springs is so laid back. This is a great place to unwind. Take a ride on the cruiser bikes provided. Whip up some cocktails in the kitchen.
Ask Davy and Walther for tips on where to go and what to do while you're there.
Cons: Shower leaves much to be desired. Need to provide your own toiletries.

Having just returned from a week at the Desert Star Bungalows, I found the hotel to be magnificent and the staffs (Walter & Davy) are very personable. I had the opportunity to check out each room and was quite impressed with the decor. Each room has its own uniqueness, spacious (a living room, kitchen, a separate bedroom), and definitely brings a home like feel. Further, I found the hotel's close proximity to several restaurants, golf courses and downtown Palm Springs just added to my enjoyment and relaxation. It was a treat to stay in, swim in the pool or just walk around to enjoy the site. Definitely a must to come back in the near future.
