“The hippest place in Palm springs”
Reviewed 13 May 2011

I was here on a business trip and expecting to work and sleep but it was just to interesting. From the moment I pulled up, a group of models getting into their Maserati was a great first glimpse of the fun crowd at the pool and Bikini Bar. The decor of the Lobby and rooms is so much fun you know you have arrived for a classic Palms Springs experience. People watching is awesome here. The pool staff was so friendly and accommodating I was actually taken by surprise, they were all quick and helpful and I defiantly recommend getting a Cabana for the ultimate experience. I stayed through a busy weekend yet there was always a friendly staff whenever I needed anything. The room was one of the cleanest hotel rooms I have ever seen, it was spacious and a great quiet retreat during a busy, fun weekend.

Excellent hotel with great service. The food was 5 star as well as the service. I brought in a business partner and wanted to make sure we stayed in a nice place. The Riviera was a first class operation and would highly recommend it to anyone. The Rooms were very spacious and clean and will stay there next time I'm in town!!!!

Wow! Been here several times and they never cease to blow me away! Stephanie (the pool manager) is reason enough to come. She is friendly, hospitable, welcoming, she goes above and beyond! I had an off the wall request... She not only humored me by actually fulfilling it, but when another guest saw what was requested she Hooked them up too!!! Love her!!! Love the new bean bags in the pool too!!!

4 nights girlfriend trip - booked the Riviera because it looked like a fun place to stay with the wonderful Mid-Century Modern atmosphere that I love about PS.
The good - wonderful decor - cool, funky, fun and always something new to see. Staff are courteous and pleasant and the entire resort is pleasant to look at. Rooms have balconies with great seating areas and the pool is gorgeous.
The Bad - this hotel seems to be understaffed for some reason the staff are all running around like crazy with their heads cut off, and guest spend a bit of time waiting around.
The Ugly - location - not very convenient to downtown PS - be prepared to drive or Cab it. The pool area is JAMMED on Saturdays so if you want a spot be there very very very early. Rooms - the renovations are beautiful, however we experience numerous small irritating things in the room that didn't work or were broken......phones, safes, bathtubs, just to name a few.

Thank you for your detailed review that includes the positive aspects of the resort. We agree that the little things do make a difference and apologize for the inconveniences. In response to your review, we have job openings posted and hold orientations for the positions that have been filled. Our Human Resources department works diligently everyday on selecting qualified applicants. As far as location and transportation, we do offer a resort van for trips within the city. In regards to broken items in the room, I am not sure if you reported the items to the Front Desk. If not, our Engineering department would have been happy to make necessary repairs or the Front Desk could certainly have made a room change. Please feel free to contact us directly if you wish to further discuss your stay. Once again, thank you for the feedback.

The hotel was nice for Palm Springs. The pool has a DJ or music playing lounge music during the day which I enjoyed. Getting a lounge chair is a huge issue though and to assure yourself a chair you need to be there by 7:30. That was ridiculous. I guess the hotel is just too large to accommodate all the people. We also had a good time playing late night pool.
Alll the workers are very helpful and respectful. I heard "hello sir" and "excuse me sir" a lot.

Thank you for recognizing the positive aspects of the resort and staff. We do realize that the pool is the resort's most popular amenity which can lead to space issues. We have implemented a wrist band program on high occupancy weekends to ensure hotel guests have exclusive access to the pool areas. There are other initiatives in the pipeline to better the guests' pool experience. It is one of our top priorities. Thank you again and we look forward to your next Palm Springs getaway.

Having read the onslaught of negative service reviews, I fully expected the Riviera to be somewhere short of Hell. Upon arrival, I was surprised by a speedy and efficient check in. No dramas, friendly smiling staff, upgraded room, short walk to room via easy to read map of the property. Along the route to the room only Delay was constant smilinghellosfrom staff.

Lunch poolside was nice. Propert itself is very nice and does a fabulous job of pulling off retro glam without feeling kitschy. Some poolside noise but tough to have pool scene and be a monastery at the same time. Great service from Concierge and again all done with a smile and a true feeling they were there to please.

In ail I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property as a great place to stay.

The hotel itself is nice. The location is ok. But I came to lounge by the pool and relax. My wife and I (early thirties) liked the vibe but the problem was when we arrived at 1130 we couldn't get lounge chairs. We found the the guy who was in charge and even gave him a some 'love' but we still had to wait and wait as non hotel guests invaded the pool. Finally around 1-something we got one lounge chair for my wife and I laid a towel on the hot cement until another group felt bad and offered one of their chairs. There were actually lots of people who resorted to laying on the floor which was pathetic. Although we like people watching its not worth such an inconvenience. At least there were tables by the bar to sit and order drinks while we waited. Next time we will go somewhere else that isn't such a zoo. Perhaps back to the jw marriott where the wristbands actually mean something and guests are accommodated instead of sold out to a higher bidder.

I apologize for the extended wait for poolside chairs. We do issue wristbands to hotel guests only on the weekends and have staff monitoring pool entrances. We evaluate this program weekly and make changes as necessary to better the policy. Please feel free to contact us directly if you wish to further discuss your stay. Once again, I apologize for the inconveniences you experienced.
