“Dated rooms & property, but clean and priced right.”
Reviewed 1 July 2008

My mom and I stayed at the Palm Court Inn for our annual shopping trip to Palm Springs. We have pretty basic needs for a hotel room: clean, in-room fridge, and a balcony. We were generally pleased with the Palm Court Inn, although we will still probably be exploring other hotels to stay at next year.

What we liked:
Clean, although dated, rooms
In-room fridge
Balcony with a lovely view
Location is good, but not really within walking distance of much, but who walks in Palm Springs anyways?

What we didn't:

No in-room coffee maker! This poses a huge problem for us coffee drinkers. The only way to get coffee on the property was to claim your breakfast voucher at the front desk and schlep over to the onsite restaurant in order to get your continental breakfast. This is a lot of effort for someone who hasn't had any coffee yet!

Dated rooms. You know how when you are sitting on the can (pardon the expression) in a hotel room and really start looking around the bathroom and start noticing that everything has been piece-mealed together, such as tiles that don't exatly match, outlet covers that are all different shades of beige, and so on? This place is exactly like that. Plus, the door to the bathroom wouldn't open fully due to the industrial sized toilet that STILL took two flushes to get anything down. Not very water effecient.

Our balcony was extremely dirty. Part of the problem is just due to the dusty air blowing around which can't really be helped, but there was also a big brown handprint on the wall and smeared stuff everywhere. I don't want to imagine the circumstances that lead to this.

I would not stay here in any of the rooms other than the "poolside" room, which is the most expensive one, because the other "mountain view" rooms looked right onto the parking lot. Also, I would recommend requesting a second floor room or you won't have any view of the pool at all because it is separated by a large hedge.

All in all, it was an okay stay. However, my opinion might be a little skewed as last year, at a different hotel that shall remain nameless since they threatened legal action against me when I posted a Tripadvisor review regarding my experience, my purse was stolen by hotel staff. So as long as nothing was stolen, I was quite happy!!!

Palm Springs has an abundance of reasonably priced properties - this one seemed ok from the outside. We used a voucher from a USA wide tourism booklet..the rate was $10 cheaper, but we were allocated a stale mildewy room away from the main block. Bathroom was mouldy and the room smelt of stale smoke, after requesting a non smoking room. We mad 2 international phone calls, using a coded USA dial number calling card - on checkout, we were given a bill for over $65 for phone calls! The Manager was rude, loud and totally obnoxious and demanded full payment, we calmy pointed out the calls were made to a local Palm Springs number, so should only be the cost of 2 local calls. Eventually, he agreed to only charge us $10, but that was beacuse the lobby was filling with other clients.
He spoilt our stay - one good plus - the pool area and pool was fabulous.

  • Disliked — stale mildewed rooms, noisy air con

Our family of four stayed here this past Easter weekend. Very nice grounds for kids (grass, pathways, large clean swimming pool and wading pool 1/2 foot deep). The motel itself is aging and definitely shows signs of wear and tear. Our room was #200 and had a balcony overlooking the garden area and view of Mt. San Jacinto. I would recommend staying on the 2nd level unless stairs are a problem for you (no elevators) because the rooms have more privacy. Rooms #200-220 (even numbers) face the garden area and the pool. Rooms 301 to 327 (odd numbers) are on the 1st level and also have patios facing in toward the garden/pool. The other rooms in the hotel have parking lot views, avoid them. This is a simple, no frills motel, ideal for families on a budget. Although it is located on Palm Canyon Drive, it is away from the shops, restaurants and nightlife of Palm Springs central. There is a great restaurant called Rick's which is right there on the grounds. They have fantastic omelettes and, if you ask for them, the motel office will give you coupons for free orange juice, coffee and a pastry.

  • Liked — Large pool and spacious grounds with mountain views.
  • Disliked — Old, loud air conditioning unit.

We stayed here for 1 night recently. We requested a baby crib with our reservation. The check in staff were rude and unhelpful. We were told there may not be any cribs left even though we booked the room 2 months ago. They managed to find an old one for us. The vending machines were either empty or broken. The pool was supposed to be heated but it was cold and the spa was boiling hot so we couldnt use iether. The carpet was dirty and overall the place looked worn out. There was no hotel directory in the room so we didnt know what was available. The man at check out wa just as rude as the lady at check in. The only good thing is the price. I would not stay here again.

We just stayed here for two nights and found it really good value at £45 a night. It's about one mile from the centre of palm springs so you really need a car if you intend to spend time in the restaurants, bars etc of palm springs.
It was clean and very comfortable. Staff were helpful and friendly and the pool area was lovely. Room was a good size with a fridge and microwave. They give a coffee and pastry for breakfast if you want it in a restaurant next to the hotel.
Would definately recommend for a good value hotel.

I booked this hotel for 3 nights, but only stayed 1. I was there on a chilly evening, and the room heater would not work, leaving the temperature very cold and uncomfortable. The bed was hard as a rock. The room was not great, but okay, but the bathroom definitely needed work. The toilet was a bus-station model, with the exposed chrome workings and long handle, and it sounded like a hurricane when it flushed. The toilet was also in the way of the bathroom door, so it wouldn't open all the way. The shower tiles were crumbling and there was no actual showerhead, so water sprayed all over when it was turned on. When I tried to voice my displeasure to the office staff, they weren't interested. I will not be going back.

Not good. Booked the family room, which had one bedroom. The door to the room was all banged up and painted over, the dresser looked like termites had been eating away at it, and the sliding door (we were on the first floor) was very rickety and not very secure at all. So, we went to the front desk and got a refund; their rate was $136 per night. Then we drove down the road to the Hyatt, which charged $169 per night. Where would you rather stay?
