My mom and I stayed at the Palm Court Inn for our annual shopping trip to Palm Springs. We have pretty basic needs for a hotel room: clean, in-room fridge, and a balcony. We were generally pleased with the Palm Court Inn, although we will still probably be exploring other hotels to stay at next year.
What we liked:
Clean, although dated, rooms
Balcony with a lovely view
Location is good, but not really within walking distance of much, but who walks in Palm Springs anyways?
What we didn't:
No in-room coffee maker! This poses a huge problem for us coffee drinkers. The only way to get coffee on the property was to claim your breakfast voucher at the front desk and schlep over to the onsite restaurant in order to get your continental breakfast. This is a lot of effort for someone who hasn't had any coffee yet!
Dated rooms. You know how when you are sitting on the can (pardon the expression) in a hotel room and really start looking around the bathroom and start noticing that everything has been piece-mealed together, such as tiles that don't exatly match, outlet covers that are all different shades of beige, and so on? This place is exactly like that. Plus, the door to the bathroom wouldn't open fully due to the industrial sized toilet that STILL took two flushes to get anything down. Not very water effecient.
Our balcony was extremely dirty. Part of the problem is just due to the dusty air blowing around which can't really be helped, but there was also a big brown handprint on the wall and smeared stuff everywhere. I don't want to imagine the circumstances that lead to this.
I would not stay here in any of the rooms other than the "poolside" room, which is the most expensive one, because the other "mountain view" rooms looked right onto the parking lot. Also, I would recommend requesting a second floor room or you won't have any view of the pool at all because it is separated by a large hedge.
All in all, it was an okay stay. However, my opinion might be a little skewed as last year, at a different hotel that shall remain nameless since they threatened legal action against me when I posted a Tripadvisor review regarding my experience, my purse was stolen by hotel staff. So as long as nothing was stolen, I was quite happy!!!
