Owner description: This 285-foot tower furnishes an outstanding view and houses the Hoover Institution on War, Revolution, and Peace.

The Hoover tower dominates the Stanford University campus in the sense that you can see its structure from most locations. It is most definitely worth entering if you are visiting the campus. The 285 feet high tower houses a library and Hoover archives and from the viewing platform at the top one has panoramic views, not only of the Stanford campus, but od the wide San Francisco Bay area. A small fee is charged for this attraction but it is worth paying this.

This was a great way to understand the layout of Stanford University. There is an elevator to the top where you can enjoy very nice views. Parking is non-existent; wear comfortable shoes. There was a fee.

Nice view of the south bay from the top of the Hoover Tower. You could see all of Stanford and down to San Jose. Very nice

As you walk the campus you cannot help but notice it. When my children were young they called it the giant baby bottle. If you are interested in modern Russian history or conservative intellectual thought (to the extent that that is not an oxymoron) this is worth a visit.

You get an almost 360 degree view. It helps if you're somewhat familiar with the campus so that you can recognize the landmarks.
