.....3 night stay with a friend who had eye surgery/post-op check-up at nearby Stanford Hsp...first impression is the plants! TONS of them...everywhere...had a room at the end in the back/big window at end of building..looking over a big empty lot next to a busy road. Room was big/beds comfy...a/c unit under window worked well but noisy..has microwave & fridge..overall clean but had dirt behind bedside table & bathroom seemed a little grungy/old dried soap foam on the shower curtain. Room 'worn' with some painted over gouges in walls & some paint chipping here/there & carpet stain. Staff is friendly & helpful. Nice pool area & another quiet sitting area in the middle of the complex..surrounded by plants! Breakfast included/in the lobby...very filling with choices of cereals/waffles/fresh cut melons & berries/breads/pastries/juice/coffee/tea & esp popular ham & egg sandwich on half a bagel kept warm in a paper sandwich bag that's good to grab & go! YUM! Secured basement parking...with a 'lounge' area(surrounded by plants!) near elevator with a player piano/kinda creepy. Overall the place is fine..a few blks to restaurants/Starbucks a few steps away & near to everything Stanford...would stay there again.

Interesting place. We immediately asked to change rooms, the first one stank so badly you couldn't take a deep breath, it overlooked a roof. We were stunned at the appearance at nearly $300 per night! The second room stank as well, but it had a nicer view. So:

NEGATIVES- way overpriced, impossible to control temperature, rooms malodorous dirty/shabby (coverlet on bed looked like it had been attacked by Velcro, picks everywhere), we had to open the door to air out our room, microwave broken, room not properly stocked with towels/one washcloth only, staffing seemed to be an issue- while at breakfast we overheard the desk clerk trying to find out when relief was to come in - sounded like the night shift person was a no show & he had been there all night & was concerned about an elderly relative at home! When the housekeeper arrived for her shift (same day) she was told she'd be working the whole hotel herself. Thankfully by then we had already decided to cut out a day early & went to Sofitel in Redwood City for our last night. Otherwise heaven knows when the room would've been cleaned. PARKING, while secure, was 20 bucks!! Elevator safety certificate expired a month ago. Plants, while pretty, were far too numerous & starting to look like an episode of Hoarders/Buried Alive.

POSITIVES-the pool was really clean & nicely heated, we would've preferred more than 2 lounge chairs, but hey...they even had pools toys/floats. The breakfast was delicious. Fruit was very fresh, you could make a beautiful waffle, there were breakfast sandwiches to be had. Hit or miss with juice/ water though. Starbucks next door, short drive to Stanford.

QUIRKY/ODD-underground parking garage. Pink lighting, chairs, "ARTwork", MORE tropical plants, velvet ropes cordoning off...wait for it...a baby grand player piano. Which played. To an audience of...cars. As the garage was quite empty of PPL. Money might have been better spent cleaning & de-stinking the rooms & paying the staff.

Room Tip: 3rd floor - if your room is above the pool be aware that it opens at 7am & if there are kids enj...

This property is outdated and not taken care of very well. There are so many plants and flowers that it's overwhelming especially since they aren't pruned or well kept. The staff was fine but certainly not top rate. My room smelled as did my sheets. I fortunately only had to stay one night and after the long trip from the East coast, I could barely sleep. The place has received a very cheap update. And it's pricey. The fruit at breakfast was great but everything else on the menu was underwhelming. I do not recommend.

A bit different breakfast only hotel. Nice large rooms but with noisy old fashioned air conditioning units. Most unusual parking level. The breakfasts in the lobby offered a wide range of choices. All in all a pretty good place.

The rooms are very large and the property is conveniently located to Stanford. Those are the positives.
The negatives: The rooms are noisy: guests can hear everything from rooms above - running water, flushes, conversations. The room had a strange, chemical smell. Organic cleansers? Don't think so.There is no manager on site - if you have any issue, you have to send a message to an administrative address. And that won't be answered. Ever.

There is a baby grand piano that constantly plays in the garage. By itself. Surrounded by plants and empty chairs. Very creepy.

For the odd, poorly managed place that it is, the Inn is quite overpriced. Stay elsewhere.

The rooms only have windows towards an inside walk way and are hence extremely dark. Ok to spend a few days in during business travel. I once spent 2 weeks there, and I didn't enjoy spending time in my room except for sleeping.

There is a very nice garden to sit in on the inside but of course this only works if the weather is nice.

When I stayed there several appliances in the fitness room and also the washing machine were broken and not fixed during my stay.

I ended up here by accident, and did not now what to expect.
I think most other review naled it: if you're into plants, organic and a different experience: this is it.

I must admit that I kinda liked it. The place was quite and clean. It could use some work, but then again, this is part of the atmosphere.

Happy with the experience, but probably not returning.

Oh, and yes, a bit to expensive for what you get...
